Job Description:

We are looking for a talented Controls Technical Specialist to join our Off-Highway team for our Engine Business Segment in Columbus IN.  This product-focused position tailors electronic systems for Cummins products. People in these positions will configure (tune), integrate, test, and release software, electronic control units, tools, sensors, actuators, and harnesses into an electronic system that controls the operation of Cummins’ products in a variety of customer applications.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:


  • Investigate electronic application and systems problems, understand causal mechanisms, recommend appropriate action, own problem resolution, and document results with guidance from more experienced team members.

  • Apply and support the improvement of electronic application and systems development processes and tools. Processes include system specification, modeling and simulation, calibration, Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R), and troubleshooting. Tools include Simulink, calibration tools, and PTC Integrity.

  • Obtain input and negotiate with product and software development teams and deliver control system designs, verified and calibrated software features and builds to product teams.

  • Makes decisions in the areas of electronic systems design, requirements, calibration, and tests that impact the quality and performance of calibrated subsystems and feature classes of electronic subsystems.

  • Contributes effectively toward team goals, exhibits influence within a work group, and continues to develop proficiency in the competency areas critical to success in the role.

To be successful in this role you will need the following:


  • College, university, or equivalent bachelor’s degree in Engineering or other relevant technical disciplines is required.

  • Minimum 3 years working in electronic controls

  • Customer engineering or equivalent customer interfacing work experience is a plus. 

  • Calibration content management and integration experience is a plus.

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
