Job Description:

Zurich is growing our Workers Compensation Claims team in California! We have multiple opportunities available to work out of our Rancho Cordova or Woodland Hills office in California.

The Claims Specialist, with moderate direction will handle California Workers Compensation Claims of moderate to high exposure and complexity. This position will resolve claims according to Best Practices and within authority limits by following established protocols to ensure that claims are handled in the most efficient, effective way while delivering a customer-centric claims service. They will regularly communicate with customers and brokers and may be dedicated to handle claims for specific accounts.

Client Externally Focused - The job's core deliverables rely on delivering service to external clients and/or customers. Typically involves building relationships and promoting the company.

We are currently considering talent for our Claims Specialist and our Sr. Claims Specialist. The hiring manager will determine the appropriate level based upon the selected applicant's experience and skill set relative to the qualifications listed for this position.

Basic Qualifications for the Workers Compensation Claims Specialist:


  • Bachelor's Degree and 3 or more years of Workers Compensation claims handling experience to include experience handling Texas claims

    OR

  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including an Associate Degree and 3 or more years of Workers Compensation claims handling experience to include experience handling Texas claims

    OR

  • Completion of Zurich Claims Training Program and 3 or more years of Workers Compensation claims handling experience to include experience handling Texas claims

    OR

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of Workers Compensation claims handling experience to include experience handling Texas claims

    AND

  • Must obtain and maintain required adjuster license(s)

  • Knowledge of insurance regulations, markets and products

  • Microsoft Office experience

Basic Qualifications for the Sr. Workers Compensation Claims Specialist:


  • Bachelor's Degree and 6 or more years of Workers Compensation claims handling experience to include experience handling California claims

    OR

  • Juris Doctor and 2 or more years of Workers Compensation claims handling experience to include experience handling California claims

    OR

  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including an Associate Degree with 6 or more years of Workers Compensation claims handling experience to include experience handling California claims

    OR

  • Completion of Zurich Claims Training Program and 6 or more years of Workers Compensation claims handling experience to include experience handling California claims

    OR

  • High School Diploma Equivalent and 8 or more years of Workers Compensation claims handling experience to include experience handling California claims

    AND

  • Must obtain and maintain required adjuster license(s)

  • Microsoft Office experience

  • Knowledge of insurance regulations, markets and products

Preferred Qualifications:


  • AIC, SCLA and/or CPCU designation

  • Strong communications, analytical, negotiation and customer service skills

  • Advanced data gathering and problem solving skills

  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to a changing environment

  • Strong organization and time management skills

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment

  • Ability to effectively present information to LOB manager, claimants and customers
