Amsted Rail has an immediate opening for a Purchasing Agent at its operation in Granite City, Illinois.

This position manages the activities pertaining to, but not restricted to assigned procurement duties to support production and customer requirements.
Monitors, and maintains procurement activities and duties in compliance with Amsted policies
Negotiate directly with vendors to get the best possible pricing and payment options
Manage inventories to optimize working capital goals/objectives, and develop solutions to improve product availability to support customer requirements
Develop initiatives to reduce costs for products and services
Collaborate with vendors to pitch new products to operations team
Resolve disputes with suppliers & contractors
Act as Team Leader in assigned projects as required
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, or related field
Minimum of 3 years of procurement experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
Strong problem solving and analytical skills
Demonstrative skills in procurement activities, negotiation skills, and a general understanding of procurement.
Experience in interacting with several departments and leading cross functional teams and projects.
High energy individual, self-starter, results focused, and shares ideas.
Excellent written, oral, communication, leadership and organizational skills
Proficiency with Microsoft office, especially Excel
