Job Title: Development Manager

Department: Land Development

Reports to: Senior Project Manager

FLSA Status: Exempt

General Summary:

The Development Manager manages the site development group consisting of Site Development and Due Diligence Coordinators. Coordinates with the Site Planning Manager, Head of Production, and Civil Department Manager.

  • Interacts with clients regional Director of Real Estate, Director of Construction, Real Estate Managers, Project Managers, and Store Planning department.

  • Assesses work load and need for additional staff.

  • Reviews all site development candidates including conducting interviews/hiring process.

  • Resolves all departmental problems related to projects and/or personnel.

  • Established standards, procedures, and training programs for the department.

  • Supportive of management of the firm and the policies set forth.

  • Responsible for managing projects within budget and/or contract terms.

Required Skills and Abilities:


  • Being accurate and timely is a must

  • Requires a high degree of technical experience including knowledge of site development of real estate, and public approval processes.

  • Thorough understanding of building codes, zoning regulations, and the approval process

  • Good understanding of civil site requirements

  • Highly organized detail-driven and conscientious

  • Proficient in current version of Revit, AutoCAD, 3D Studio or Form-Z, Photoshop, PowerPoint, MS Word and MS Excel

  • Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment

  • Willing to travel throughout the United States

  • Strong leadership skills ability to manage teams within multiple disciplines effectively

Education and Experience:


  • Bachelors Degree in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Civil Engineering, Planning or other related degree

  • 15-20 years experience in commercial development

  • Licensure in respective discipline is preferred, but not required

  • Experienced managing multiple large projects simultaneously
