We are seeking a full-time Aviation Pilot Instructor at our headquarters in Olathe, Kansas. This dynamic position is responsible for teaching the pilots of today and tomorrow about Garmin Avionics. In this position you will provide customer service, technical support and training to internal and external customers including Garmin dealers, OEMs, fleets, and pilots. This position will also assist in developing content for classroom instruction, seminars, and electronic content.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Conduct instructor-led training classes and seminars to Garmin dealers, OEMs, Aviation Product Support associates, and other customers
Provide avionics operations support to Garmin customers via phone, fax and email
Assist in developing new pilot and flight instructor training programs associated with the introduction of new products / services for external & internal customers
Confer with Directors, Managers, Supervisors and System Engineers to determine internal and external training needs
Represent Garmin at industry and professional meetings and conferences
Work with OEM avionics partners in support of OEM training programs involving Garmin avionics
Flexibility to travel domestically or internationally (up to 25% of time or greater)
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain operational proficiency with Garmin avionics
Review Garmin manuals and provide input on improvements
Provide customer and operational input to other Garmin teams to help improve Customer Experience
Update Garmin desktop training kiosks for internal training purposes
Accept and complete projects and other miscellaneous Aviation Support duties as assigned
Qualifications
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s Degree in a field relevant to performing the essential functions of this job description OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
Certified Flight Instructor-Instrument (or military equivalent)
Must possess experience in the aviation industry and working with and/or using avionics
Must demonstrate proficiency using a presentation program (Prezi, Power Point, Keynote etc.)
Must be detail-oriented and work proactively and effectively
Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a flexible, fast paced and challenging environment
Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others
Ability to develop training products that are clear, engaging, technically accurate, and follow a logical sequence,
Ability and product knowledge to tailor system information based on available time and customer airframe into a coherent presentation that meets customer needs
Ability to manage and tailor a class with a wide range of Garmin and industry avionics experience.
Comfortable conducting training with audiences varying from one-on-one, to standard classes of 10 – 20 students, and to larger audiences with 300 or more attendees.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Customer service experience
Experience in developing interactive, multimedia training materials
