Technical Manager - Transit Architecture at Michael Baker Engineering Inc

Job Description:

The Technical Manager will perform planning, design, analysis, and construction administration support for a variety of architectural, engineering, railroad transit and construction projects. Your time will be well spent leading and/or contributing to the consultant design efforts for transportation infrastructure clientele in New England and nationally.

Responsibilities:


  • Management of projects including coordination with outside design consultants and internal multi-discipline program teams.
  • Organize program budget and allocate available funds and payments per consulting agreements.
  • Create project schedules and workplans
  • Provide oversight of design services during construction.
  • Coordination with numerous project stakeholders including designers, planners, owners, management, consultants, municipalities, rail operations, contractors, inspection and code officials, property managers, utility representatives, Amtrak, and the Federal Rail Administration (FRA).
  • Aid in providing design services to upgrade existing facilities to current building codes and obtain construction bids.
  • Lead design for replacement of building components to maintain the integrity of facilities.
  • Review of numerous regulatory requirements and compliance evaluations.
  • Construction Administration activities including the review, distribution and organization of construction drawings, submittals, shop and working drawings, contractor requests for information/change, construction orders, field design changes, contract document tracking.
  • Clearly convey information to internal and external clients.
  • Develop and define scope of work statements and man-hour estimates.
  • Review project deliverables to offer possible redesign, substitution of materials, or rearrangement of systems for cost saving measures.
  • Provide quality control reviews by researching code, design and detailed project specific requirements to ensure systems conform to engineering design and client specifications.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering or Construction Management.
  • 10+ years of related experience in facility (building) design, ideally on buildings projects within the aviation, railroad, transit, commercial, industrial and government markets, or transportation infrastructure desired.
  • Professional Engineering license or credentials to pursue licensure preferred.
  • Detailed understanding of building codes .
  • Financial budgeting / tracking including invoice review and approvals and project scheduling.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Teams, Microsoft Project and Bluebeam Revit.

COMPENSATION

The salary range for this position is $115,000 - $124,800. This will be dependent on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate.
