We are actively searching for a Suture Technician I for 2nd Shift (Monday-Friday 4:00pm-12:30am) to produce Quality Medical Instruments in accordance with Arthrex Manufacturing Inc. procedures in a safe and effective manner to meet and exceed the customer's needs. This position also provides manufacturing support for existing new product development/trials in Suture assembly and packaging processes, and fosters an environment continuous improvement to develop more robust procedures and improvements within existing processes. The successful candidate will have excellent attention to detail and communication skills. A High School Diploma or equivalent is required for this position, and 1 year of Suture specialty assembly experience is strongly preferred. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Support current manufacturing processes related to existing suture assembly.

  • Assist Suture Engineering Technician and Engineering as directed in tasks needed to be executed to start new manufacturing codes.

  • Support training of current team members on Suture assembly techniques.

  • Assist in maintaining training / flexibility matrices

  • Possess the ability to effectively communicate to all operational groups including manufacturing, engineering, quality personnel, and supervisors as it relates to ideas, questions, and concerns.

  • Work primarily unassisted or with minimal supervision and instruction on newly introduced processes

  • Work with Manufacturing on the continuous improvement of assembly processes.

  • Follow the Quality System Requirements to ensure Quality is at the forefront in assembling medical instruments for patient use. Training & enforcement of GMP practices, line setups and clearances and ensuring correct documentation is followed.

Education and Experience:


  • High School Diploma or equivalent required

  • 1 year Suture specialty assembly experience strongly preferred

  • Understanding of Drawings, Blue Prints, BOM's and Routings preferred

  • Experience with computerized manufacturing system preferred (Oracle, SAP, etc.)


Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • A thorough knowledge of packaging processes, product assembly, visual inspection, packaging, and labeling requirements.

  • Must have the ability to perform tasks by reading, understanding and following work instruction/documents provided.

  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret/comprehend blue prints and packaging/assembly work instructions.

  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacturing and distribution of goods.

  • Knowledge of administrative procedures and computer systems such as word processing, managing files and records, Excel, Power Point, MQ1, SAP, and Microsoft Outlook.


Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:

The technology and the frequency of the technology required to perform this job are as follows; the occasional operation of some textile equipment, weighing scale, label dispenser machine, sealers, manual sealers, cleaning machine, crimping machine, arbor press, figure 8 winder, Skeining machine, and other textile processing equipment. Suture assembly fixtures, suture attaching machines, rulers, micrometer, calipers, tappi chart and other related inspection gauges and machines.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, problem solve and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to comprehend and apply basic mathematical principles to the degree required to perform the job based upon job requirements.

Language Skills:

Ability to comprehend and apply language skills to the degree required to perform the job based upon the job requirements listed above. Ability to verbally communicate ideas and issues effectively to other team members and management. Ability to write and record data and information as required by procedures.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Requires frequently working in clean room and controlled environment utilizing specified cleaning agents.
