Staff Accountant at Healthplanone

The Staff Accountant will be help manage general accounting and financial processes. The Staff Accountant is responsible for all daily/monthly accounting tasks including, billing various customers, AR review, performing general ledger account and bank statement reconciliations, assisting in the month end close and maintaining the fixed asset register.



Duties/Responsibilities:





  • Act as the company's primary point of contact for Customer/Carrier daily coding and cash application

  • Review all incoming Treasury mail including depositing checks via Remote Deposit Capture

  • Coordinate deposit requests and provide confirmation when complete

  • Reconciliation all bank accounts daily within ERP system and monthly account reconciliations and bank statements for controls purposes

  • Produce and distribute the uncategorized revenue reporting details to the Brokerage Revenue Team

  • Identify and update appropriate Customer/Carrier contact information for MAQ, Leads and Other Customers partnering with Account Management

  • Coordinate billing for MAQ & Leads Customers; verifies all billings and charged to credit cards on file are complete and reconciled to the general ledger and upload billing invoices to multiple carrier portals

  • Prepare weekly AR review and follow up with customers on outstanding balances and prepares Bad Debt write-offs as necessary

  • Performs mid-level general ledger account reconciliations, verify accuracy of data and report, identify, and correct any errors found in order to provide accuracy of the company's financial statements

  • Support timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close, including assigned journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, accruals, and overall maintenance of all operational management accounts

  • Review overhead expenses and payables to ensure expenses are properly accrued or included in prepaid on a weekly basis

  • Maintain fixed asset ledger, which includes preparation of journal entries, reconciliation of general ledger to fixed assets register and preparation of depreciation schedules and journal entries

  • Assist Senior Accountant in preparation of files for various tax filings

  • Prepare special financial reports and analytical trends of actual versus budget by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.

  • Miscellaneous reporting and ad-hoc analysis in support of other financial and business priorities

  • Participate in year-end audit by preparing work papers and prepping selections.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned




Required Skills/Abilities:





  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance

  • 2 + years of professional accounting experience

  • Ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel

  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail required

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Tact, diplomacy, and ability to maintain strict confidentiality are critical




Preferred Skills/Abilities:





  • Experience with Quickbooks, NetSuite, Workday,

  • Active pursuit of Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license

  • Experience in audit accounting

  • Knowledge of GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles in the U.S.)




Physical Requirements:





  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, typically in a cubicle environment (constant noise, fluorescent overhead lighting)
