GENERAL SUMMARY (What is done and why)

The Integration Engineer is responsible for designing, and maintaining the application integrations within an evolving ecosystem at United Federal Credit Union. This role will focus on establishing a secure, sustainable, and scalable framework for application interactions, evangelizing and working with developers, business partners, and internal teams to craft a dynamic, secure, and future-oriented environment able to serve the current and emerging needs of a growing financial institution.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, IN PRIORITY ORDER (Majority of duties, but not meant to be all inclusive or prevent other duties from being assigned as necessary)


  1. Responsible for the planning, design, build, testing, monitoring, documenting, and development of the integration environment; ensuring the security, reliability, and performance of the organization’s integrations using a variety of tools and platforms. Time: 50%

  2. Conduct project research, analyze current system design and making, where appropriate, adjustments to API and integration environment in accordance with established change control practices. Time: 20%

  3. Develop and maintain enterprise documentation of API integrations and architecture in accordance with regulatory standards, credit union policy, and programming best practices in a structure and format that is easily leveraged by staff and vendor-partners. Time: 20%

  4. Align usage and structure of data with Enterprise Analytics team, ensuring that definitions and application of data is consistent and understood across the enterprise. Time:5%

  5. Provide structured and unstructured technical consultancy and partnership with the Software Engineering, Enterprise Solutions and Enterprise Analytics teams among other internal stakeholders, as well as external vendors. Time: 5%.

EDUCATION (Minimum education required to perform the duties of this position)


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field or two years of related work experience required.

EXPERIENCE (Minimum experience required to perform the duties of this position)

In addition to the education requirement:


  • Five or more years of experience in various areas of technology (applications, architecture development, application development)

  • 1 or more years’ experience as an Integrations Architect, Enterprise Architect or similar role

  • Experience designing, developing, and consuming web APIs in a complex environment

  • Experience with Microsoft Asure API Management and LogicApp

  • Understanding or experience with integrations platforms such as BOOMI, Mulesoft, Workato, or similar is beneficial.

  • Experience in a financial institution is preferred

  • Experience in an agile environment is preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to mentor technical staff

  • Detailed understanding of Unit / Integration testing

  • Must have demonstrated advanced knowledge of software design and API development.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS (Physical effort generally associated with this position)

Work involves standing and walking for brief periods of time, but most work is done from a seated position.  There is potential for eyestrain from prolonged work at the computer. Individual must be able to travel to complete applicable assignments, projects and training.  Deadlines, workloads and pressure to achieve goals may cause increased stress levels. 

WORKING CONDITIONS (Typical working conditions associated with this type of work and environmental hazards, if any, that may be encountered in performing the duties of this position)

Internal- work is normally performed in climate-controlled office environment, where exposure to conditions of extreme heat/cold, poor ventilation, fumes and gases is very limited. Noise level is moderate and includes sounds of normal office equipment (computers, telephones, etc.). No known environmental hazards are encountered in normal performance of duties. Length of day is unpredictable; long hours may be required to accommodate deadlines, special meetings, and incident management.

External- Some travel is required; however, information on environmental conditions is not available.
