The Loan Officer IV provides services to customers and prospective customers seeking all types of loans, often dealing in relatively large loans. Types of loans serviced include a combination of any of the following: student, home equity, agricultural, as well as commercial, consumer, installment and mortgage. Operates with substantial credit authority within a designated region under the guidance of the Branch President. Can serve in the capacity of Senior Loan committee and internal loan audit functions.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:        

  • Takes applications for commercial/ag loan business.  Reviews customer financial condition and assesses the customer’s liability to re-pay the loan.  Makes underwriting decisions within approval authority.  Completes or directs completion of all loan documents and closes loans.

  • Participates in developing lending and deposit business for the bank. Calls on clients to expand existing business; calls on prospects seeking opportunities to expand the bank’s client base.

  • Assists in collection of past due loans.

  • Monitors existing loan portfolio to maintain a high-quality asset base.  Maintains up-to-date client files including current balance sheets, profit & loss statements, cash flow projections and all loan documentation.

  • May serve on loan committee.

  • Promote the bank and make referrals to other departments.

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Performance Management:         

  • Ensure loan decisions are in compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and Lending regulations, policies and procedures.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve customer and internal inquiries in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Provide informed, professional, and accurate service and support to all customers and associates.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Education and/or Experience.                         

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field

  • Eight years to ten years of similar or related experience

  • Knowledge of accounting and financial records

  • Ability to analyze credit factors, including various financial statements and tax returns

Additional lending authorities and scope of duties, such as serving on Senior Lending committee and internal loan review duties may be assigned by the Bank President.

Interpersonal Skills.                                                                              

  • A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact.

  • Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is usually of a personal or sensitive nature.

  • Good communication skills.

  • Ability to make difficult decisions and communicate such decisions well.

  • Computer operations, including word-processing.

  • Be self-directed and motivated. Ability to manage heavy workload during peak borrowing times.

  • Ability to keep accurate and neat records and files.

While performing this job the employee would occasionally be required to carry loads up to and including 24lbs. It is frequently necessary to bend, squat, reach above the shoulder level, crouch, kneel, balance and push/pull equipment. Firm grasping/fine manipulation with the right/left hand is necessary. In an 8-hour day, the employee can expect to sit about 6 hours.
