  • LTI Mount Vernon Freight Drivers are HOME DAILY!

  • Our drivers are paid hourly for ALL on-duty work time, from when they arrive to work until they leave.

  • $ 26.75 /hour base, subject to 1.5 x OT rate for any work time over 40 hours in one week.

  • $1.00/hour driver incentive, also subject to OT

  • Hourly paid safe driving bonus, subject to OT. For every year of documented safe driving with previous employment from an accredited safety program or accrue with us, we will increase your base pay.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS


  • Worker checks out truck upon first checking into work by inspecting lights, tires, brakes, fuel, oil, and water. Worker tops off tanks, as needed. Worker advises mechanic when repairs are needed and lubricates or repairs vehicle when necessary. Worker also improves safety and maintains vehicle’s cleanliness by cleaning windows, mirrors, and lights.

  • If not hooked up, worker hooks up trailer, whether loaded or not, and performs a check of its safety features and running gear.

  • Worker makes certain that all emergency equipment such as chains, light bulbs, fuses, etc. are available in case of need.

  • Worker operates vehicle and travels to destination utilizing skills gained from training and/or experience as a truck driver.

  • Worker prepares receipts for loads upon pick-up and delivery and completes corresponding time-card.

  • Worker maintains driver’s log according to I.C.C., state, and federal regulations.

  • Worker may operate trailer pump to load and unload products to be transferred.

  • Worker may be required to unhook and hookup trailers, crank landing gear, and operate buttons and levers to operate dump trailer.

  • Worker performs emergency roadside repairs and installs lightbulbs, fuses, and tire-chains as needed.

  • Worker climbs ladders on trailers and on farm tanks, as needed.

  • Worker uses arms, hands, legs, and feet to operate vehicle or operate equipment.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. This includes, but not limited to, the ability to operate an On-Board Device.

 

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Must be available to work days, evenings, weekends, nights or holidays, if required. May work a total of 8 to 14 hours and occasional overnight travel may be required.

High school diploma/GED or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combinations of education and experience.

 

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES

Must possess at least valid Class 'A' Commercial Driver's License with tanker and doubles endorsements, have acceptable driving record, and be at least 21 years of age.

 

REQUIRED PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE)

Employee is required to wear PPE as outlined in Company’s Industrial Health and Safety Manual Chapter 2.27 PPE Program, which may include hard hat, safety toe shoes/boots, gloves, safety glasses/goggles, hearing protection, respiratory protection and arctic gear.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Cab of semi-truck and area immediately around the vehicle and the trailer at any given location. Other locations where products are picked up and delivered including refineries, storage facilities, and other businesses. Highways and local roads in a variety of locations and a variety of conditions. Inclement weather is always a factor when operating a large motor vehicle with trailer. The noise level in the work environment ranges from moderate to moderately loud.

 

A post conditional offer of employment physical, drug test and background investigation are required.

 

Random drug testing is required of all LTI, Inc. employees.
