What you will do 

 The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will plan, direct and coordinate the daily operations of the engineering and maintenance departments consisting of a staff of engineers, supervisors, technicians and maintenance personnel.  This person will work closely with the corporate R & D department in developing new production methods, setting standards for continuous improvement and interfacing with quality control staff to establish standards and resolve manufacturing issues.  Working under the framework of Johnson Controls Continuous Improvement system, will assess current state performance, identify gaps, visualize and establish a plan to get to the future state, monitor progress and share/acquire best-in-class ideas and systems.  

This position is in Ponca City, Oklahoma, reporting to the Plant Manager.  

How you will do it


  • Plan, implement and qualify line layouts for assembly to intended throughput capabilities


  • Develop, evaluate and improve manufacturing methods, utilizing Lean manufacturing tools, knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling, and production equipment capabilities.


  • Collaborate with plant leadership and company engineering peers to develop methods for achieving manufacturing key performance indicators


  • Specify and procure various assembly equipment and systems to meet program development and growth requirements.


  • Combine technical analysis and business acumen to create well-informed, strategic decisions impacting operations.


  • Prepare and manage a forecasted budget for tooling and project expenses; implement cost improvement plans.


  • Oversee machine and equipment installation to ensure they are installed and functioning according to specifications.


  • Use standard tracking and reporting systems, prepare detailed plans, drive project performance, and assure timely completion and achievement of product/process quality and savings goals. 


What we look for 

Required


  • Bachelor of Science in manufacturing, industrial, mechanical or other related technical degree and at least 5 years’ experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment with managerial experience or high school diploma with a minimum of 8+ years in a high-volume manufacturing, production or troubleshooting role


  • Demonstrated experience in owning production processes / growing capability in yield and quality


  • 3+ years’ experience in working with robotics and CNC horizontal and vertical machining.


  • 3+ years’ experience in cost estimating, project management, contract negotiations and interaction with product vendors.


  • 3+ years’ experience with designing, specifying, implementing and qualifying manufacturing equipment, tools, jigs and fixtures


  • Experience in AutoCad


  • Demonstrated experience in Plant Facilities management.
