We are seeking an experienced Kennel Supervisor to join our hospital as part of our leadership team. The Kennel Supervisor provides direct leadership support to the kennel staff. The Kennel Supervisor plans, directs, delegates, coordinates and performs a variety of duties concerned with all kennel staff and the kennel department. This includes Administrative duties, as well as oversight of Safety protocols and ensuring a professional and respectful team environment is adhered to at all times.
Administrative duties include but are not limited to the following:
Serve as a representative of the hospital leadership team, displaying tact, consideration, courtesy, compassion, professionalism, and a positive attitude in all interactions with patients, clients and all members of the hospital staff
Work closely with hospital leadership team to develop new protocols as needed
Direct/assist kennel staff in their performance of a variety of kennel duties that facilitate patient care by keeping work areas clean and stocked.
Prepare and oversee the kennel staff's work schedule and daily kennel schedule
Review and evaluate kennel staff on a quarterly and annual basis
Maintains attendance records and ensures attendance expectations are communicated and adhered to
Develop/maintain department training manual
Maintain all kennel equipment and supplies, order through Purchaser
Develop/maintain equipment repair log
Oversee completion of daily checklists
Check and respond to kennel tasks daily
Conduct interviews and participate in the hiring and disciplining of kennel staff
Technical duties include but are not limited to the following:
Works with hospital Purchaser to place food orders for hospital and clients.
Receive, check in, and organize deliveries of pet food.
Label pet food and notify clients upon its arrival.
Maintains supplies used in the kennel.
Facilitates/completes minor repairs to and maintenance of kennel equipment, facilitates larger repairs with hospital leadership
Ensures cleanliness of all kennels, runs (indoor and outdoor) and animal housing with disinfectant, appropriately set up for incoming animals
Supervises documentation of all information in kennel department, including but not limited to patient status.
Supervises patient care in the kennel department at all times
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs
• Ability to bend, lift, push, pull, stretch, climb, mop, sweep, and scrub
• Must be able to work a flexible shift including weekends/holidays as assigned.
