This unique role sits on our Shadow Health Team.

Shadow Health's is the leader in nextgen Digital Clinical Experience allowing nursing students to demonstrate and perfect their clinical reasoning skills through lifelike interactions with Digital Standardized Patients.



As the Senior Simulation Platform Engineer, you are a technical expert on the team that designs, builds, and maintains the platform used by our cross-functional teams of designers, developers, and domain experts to craft our market-leading nursing simulations.


You will perform complex research, design, and software development for our Simulation Platform, and provide direct input to project plans, schedules, and methodology in developing cross-functional software products. You'll also mentor more junior team members and collaborate with internal customers to translate their needs into capabilities and features of our Simulation Platform.


TECHNICAL SKILLS:


  • Current and extensive proficiency with the Unity game engine and Unity development best practices.

  • Knowledge in using and developing applicable tool sets, mobile & AR/VR platforms

  • Advanced knowledge of software development methodologies & frameworks (e.g., Agile, Scrum, SAFe).

  • Understanding of data modeling principles.

  • Knowledge of multiple data storage subsystems (e.g., Postgres, DynamoDB, S3)

  • Understanding of analytics and eventing applied to tracking user behavior and experience within a simulation or game environment, e.g., using Unity Analytics or similar

  • Expertise in development languages and frameworks including, but not limited to C#, .Net, Python, FastApi, JavaScript, NodeJS, SQL, PartiQL

  • Research skills, and understanding of UX principles and techniques for user-centered design.

  • Knowledge of industry best practices for software development, including secure coding principles.

  • Ability to interface competently with other technical personnel or team members to finalize requirements.

  • Ability to work well with internal and external technology resources.

  • Knowledge and application of test-driven development, unit testing, and integration testing in the context of complex distributed systems.

  • Ability to write and review portions of detailed specifications for the development of complex system components.



ACCOUNTABILITIES:


  • Collaborates with the Product Manager for the Simulation Platform, Architects, and other senior development team members to elaborate on and prioritize Platform capabilities and implementation.

  • Develop best practices for modeling simulation learning activities, including data models, data flows, componentization, and reuse.

  • Improve and document build pipelines and deployment processes.

  • Interface with other technical personnel or team members to finalize requirements.

  • Write and review portions of detailed specifications for the development of complex system components.

  • Work closely with other development team members to understand complex product requirements and translate them into software designs.

  • Successfully implement development processes, coding best practices, and code reviews.

  • Operate in various development environments (Agile, Waterfall, etc.) while collaborating with key stakeholders.

  • Staying abreast of new and relevant technology developments.

  • Design and work with complex data models.

  • Mentor less-senior software developers on development methodologies and optimization techniques.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • 6+ years of Software Engineering experience
