Performs routine lab functions, assists in manufacturing, and assists in analytical quality control testing (i.e. density, viscosity) on raw materials and in-process samples in accordance with AS9100 requirements. The laboratory technician will also manage chemical inventory and consumable inventory. Alongside a diverse and highly talented team, you will deliver solutions to globally challenging problems in one of the world's most complex engineering sectors: aviation. Specific job-related tasks include:
RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform Analytical Quality Control (AQC) for various materials and processes, following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), to ensure control of fixed processes. Examples include: KF titration, viscometry, 3-point bend, dilatometry, X-Ray Diffraction, microscopy, particle size, surface area, 3D printing
Lead preparation and manufacture of resin and slurry, following SOPs
Provide feedback on SOPs, assist in writing and updating SOPs
Prepare, update, and distribute documentation and data pertaining to manufacturing and AQC
Wash glassware, stock laboratory supplies, maintain lab working surface cleanliness and dispose of chemicals and product vials
Perform daily & monthly equipment/instrument maintenance and cleaning, record data in appropriate forms
Follow work-flow procedures from receiving test samples, monitoring inventories, to waste disposal
Maintain inventories of all raw materials
Work to production schedules in support of fulfilling customer demand
QUALITIES/SKILLS
High school, GED, or Associate degree; experience in production/laboratory environments preferred
Experience with hazardous materials required
Experience with quality inspection preferred, experience in QC in highly regulated industry a strong plus
Excellent chemical hygiene and organization
Demonstrated experience in handling delicate samples, experience with polymers and ceramics a plus
Proficient in Excel data entry
Proficient in PC applications including Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Good oral and written communication skills and ability to use these skills to follow specific instruction and report assay results (i.e. written SOPs)
Basic training in the use of Balances, Melting Point, pH meter, Fume Hoods, Stir/Hot Plates, Compressed Gas Regulators and Cylinders, calipers, micrometers, optical microscopes
Experience with Oracle and/or other ERP systems preferred
Ability to lift 50lbs with 2 hands
Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl
