WATER PRACTICE

Michael Baker International's Water Group provides innovative consulting, planning and engineering solutions for the entire spectrum of the water cycle. We have proven experience in providing a full range of professional services from scientific and technical analysis, concept through design, and construction support services. Protection and management of water resources starts at the watershed level and follows the movement of water through urban and agricultural areas, streams, lakes and reservoirs, water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, and water/wastewater treatment plants.

DESCRIPTION

As a part of our Engineering Team, our Designer II will work with our engineering team to develop water, wastewater, stormwater and related municipal civil drawings from engineering notes, sketches, and/or detailed drawings to ensure each design meets client expectations.


  • Work with CADD designers/drafters and engineers to ensure coordinated design.
  • Utilize a CADD workstation to prepare engineering drawings for preliminary and final plan sets.
  • Apply standard drafting/design principles and theories to complete assignments.
  • Use technical manuals to ensure compliance with company and client policies and standards.
  • Read and understand orthographic (2D) and/or isometric (3D) designs.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS


  • Two-year technical degree or Certification
  • 7+ years of experience preparing municipal infrastructure and/or state transportation department (DOT) drawings.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, along with experience in MicroStation, or the ability to quickly learn MicroStation, will be expected. Familiarity with Microsoft Office products is required.
  • The ability to work independently or with teams for extended periods of time and having focused attention to detail are highly desired.
  • Key traits are having the personal drive to deliver high quality work to satisfy clients, while having an even-keeled disposition to gel with the design team and being willing to go the extra mile when necessary to ensure schedule and budget goals are met.
  • Coordinates design work with subconsultants and other disciplines involved on a project.
  • Consults with client or supervisor to evaluate individual project needs.
  • Prepares quantity or cost estimates for project within quality specifications.
  • Reviews the quality of final product before release to the client.

COMPENSATION
The salary range for this position is $54,392 - $132,763.
