The Basics:

We are seeking a Senior Revenue Accountant (Remote) who will play a central role on the Tanium Accounting team in assisting with our global revenue accounting function. In this role, you will partner cross-functionally with Deal Desk, Legal, and Sales during contract negotiations. Day-to-day, you will support the revenue accounting function by documenting contract reviews, preparing revenue-related accounting close deliverables, and helping to administer revenue operational processes. We are looking for a detail-oriented individual with excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Not only do you hold yourself to the highest level of integrity, but you are a self-starter and take ownership in your work product. This role would be ideal for someone with a background in audit and accounting and wants to grow their career in Revenue Recognition.

What You'll Do: 

• Review software contracts and prepare revenue checklists to ensure that revenue is recorded in accordance with the Company's revenue recognition policy and ASC 606
• Assist with the worldwide revenue close process which includes preparing journal entries and account reconciliations
• Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statement fluctuation analyses for management reporting
• Partner cross-functionally with other business groups (Deal Desk, Legal, Sales Operations) on customer contract negotiations
• Assist with technical revenue memos and updates to the Company's revenue recognition policy as needed
• Prepare revenue related disclosures for annual financial statements
• Support the accounting and finance functions by leading or participating in special projects and workflow process improvements 
• Review the Company's Order-to-Cash and revenue recognition processes and recommend improvements to fine tune processes, document procedures, and enhance controls.
• Assist with ad-hoc projects as needed

Education :

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related area, CPA license preferred

• 3+ years accounting experience with 1-2 years working in a revenue recognition role. SaaS/software experience preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of US GAAP and ASC 606 accounting standards
• Exceptional attention to detail with an appreciation for accuracy
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to translate complex, detailed topics to the team and leadership in a clear, logical manner
• Ability to work independently and proactively manage one's own work streams as needed 
• Advanced knowledge of MS Excel (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, SUMIF, IF statements, etc.)
• Familiarity with NetSuite and Salesforce preferred
