The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Senior Environmental Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:


  • Leading projects to ensure environmental compliance activities for the site, comprising a chemical plant, film manufacturing plant and WWT operations


  • Implementing management systems, programs, and processes to ensure durable compliance with local, state, federal and company standards.


  • Determining opportunities for environmental program improvements and develop strategic plans for improvement. Work with appropriate stakeholders to implement changes and track to completion.


  • Supporting site by working with engineers and leaders to ensure compliance requirements are incorporated into, and followed by operations, maintenance, and contractors.


  • Supporting corporate initiatives to create, improve or implement programs driving environmental performance.


  • Willingness to be on-call for live support of emergency response events


Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a Science or Engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution


  • Five (5) combined years of experience with environmental compliance and/or environmental reporting in a private, public, government or military environment


Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:


  • Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline from an accredited institution


  • Ten (10) years of environmental compliance experience in a private, public, government or military environment


  • Experience in environmental program administration (e.g., Title V, National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), incident investigation, and/or risk management)


  • Permit compliance experience and an in-depth working regulatory knowledge of one or more of the following: Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, RCRA, SPCC, TSCA


  • Experience interacting with Federal, State and Local regulatory agencies


  • Proficiency with various corporate reporting/compliance and other software tools


Location: Decatur, AL

Travel: May include up to 5% domestic

Relocation Assistance: May be authorized
