Lead Principal, Enterprise Architecture Strategy & Special Initiatives - Evernorth at Cigna

Job Description:

This position leads the creation of enterprise architectural strategies focused on both improving and modernizing the current business delivery of Cigna and Evernorth as well as supporting horizontal innovation and the shift to a digital engagement model where needed. This position reports to the SVP, Chief Architect and will also lead special initiatives at the request of the Chief Architect.

As a senior Architecture leader focused on strategies and special initiatives, this leader will be responsible for architecting business value outcomes through broad engagement across Cigna and Evernorth. This includes initiating, guiding, and leading strategy development at multiple levels across multiple governance bodies, growth platforms, and lines of business and in alignment with our Enterprise and Technology Strategies, thereby accelerating delivery of value across the enterprise, identifying optimization opportunities, and managing trade-offs, impacts, risks, opportunities, and value creation.

This role will lead a team of Directors, Senior Directors, Principals, and Senior Principals when needed to complete special initiatives as requested by the Chief Architect. This leader will maintain strong connectivity across the remainder of the Enterprise Architecture organization to ensure the organization is positioned for long term success. This role requires high levels of influence within the Cigna, Evernorth, and Enterprise Architecture organizations, extensive business knowledge and savvy, innovative problem solving skills, and the ability to marry business and technology into a cohesive value-oriented strategies. This role is expected to serve as a trusted partner and advisor at all levels within the company.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Serves as a trusted strategic advisor to business and technology leadership


  • Partners with business and technology leadership and stakeholders to formulate and articulate strategies at multiple levels across the Cigna and Evernorth organizations to deliver value in alignment with the Enterprise Strategy, Technology Strategy, and Enterprise Architecture vision


  • Develops plans necessary to realize the strategies and deliver value in both the short- and long-term


  • Drives cross-business alignment of strategies, synergies and execution plans at an enterprise level


  • Conducts strategic reviews of businesses, products, and operations to identify opportunities, risks, and issues and recommends solutions that improve financial posture and deliver value


  • Determines most effective way the business can leverage existing and emerging technologies to attain achieve strategic objectives


  • Develop outstanding, strategic relationships within Cigna, Evernorth, and the Enterprise Architecture organization and with key vendors to develop best-in-class strategies that meet the needs of the business and our customers


  • Leads and implements special initiatives as requested by the Chief Architect


  • Collaborates with disparate business and technology vendors, partners & solution providers to implement successful initiatives


  • Promote the development of architecture processes, frameworks, tools, and best practices to help accelerate value delivery at an enterprise level


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering or related field, advanced degree a plus


  • 10+ years of experience in a software engineering or architecture environment managing teams, organizational budgets, and vendor relationships


  • 5+ years of experience in strategic planning and strategy development


  • Demonstrated ability to be a strategic anchor on a multidisciplinary team by understanding context, uncovering insights, exploring and defining opportunities, and formulating strategies


  • Able to process high volumes of complex information, synthesize key themes, and recommend paths forward


  • Able to assess efficacy of existing strategies and recommend alternate paths when appropriate


  • Experienced in the application of strategic frameworks and analysis, research, and program management disciplines to solve challenging business problems (concept -> revenue)


  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to senior executives and customers


  • Highly developed interpersonal skills with ability to lead through influence across cultural differences and drive change at an enterprise level


  • Strong leadership, collaboration, and negotiation skills with technical and non-technical groups with a demonstrated ability to build consensus among many stakeholders at any level within the organization


  • Strong client service orientation with ability to bring a customer-centric perspective to all situations


  • Strong business and technology leader who can roll-up their sleeves when necessary


  • Experience working in a global context, across multiple time zones, in a matrixed environment


  • Able to plan and lead execution of special initiatives as requested

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of $162,900 - $271,500, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus and long term incentive plan.
