DTC Campaign Strategist, Medicare Marketing - Work at Home at Cigna

Marketing professional, aligned to the Medicare Business, is responsible for development of integrated strategic communication planning. This position requires direct-to-consumer (DTC) marketing communication development experience with proven results-driven campaigns. You will drive campaign development and management across acquisition and retention efforts. You will have the ability to translate business objectives and marketing strategy into highly effective Integrated Campaign strategies. You will need to work in coordination with a number of marketing-focused groups at Cigna - Brand, Creative, Digital, PR, Research, Customer Experience, Social Media, and Events & Sponsorships.

This position requires a strong strategic mindset, thinking across multiple channels, ability to collaborate with and influence other marketing and matrix partners, and effectively thrive in a dynamic, sometimes ambiguous environment, cutting through the clutter to deliver impactful results.

Duties and Responsibilities


  • Contributes to planning and development of marketing strategies and tactics to achieve business goals.

  • Design detailed integrated strategic communication plans based on the segmentation including contact strategy, creative briefs, marketing messages and claims, campaign data specifications and creative requirements.

  • Strong direct response marketing experience, leveraging test and learn design, marketing program measurement and optimization.

  • Knowledge of direct marketing and CRM principles as well as experience with development and implementation of email, direct mail and IVR tactics.

  • Mobilize across marketing centers of excellence (COEs) to deliver cutting edge Digital and Direct Marketing to the business.

  • Develop and execute segment messaging and integrated strategic communication plans and development of all supporting communications that provide compelling reasons for all audiences to consider Cigna.

  • Work closely with key matrix partners in US Business Marketing, Solutions, and Operations to bring forth Cigna's most differentiating market messages in multiple formats to use in a variety of situations.

  • Continually generate ideas and opportunities to innovate, which can include process, media, tactics, and other ideas intended to improve Cigna's competitive position in marketing communications.

  • Identify critical opportunities to communicate to internal audiences and provide editing/review support to ensure consistency of messaging.


  • Ensure final sign-offs from subject matter experts, project owners and compliance/legal team.

  • Evaluate effectiveness of communication strategies and tactics and drive change as needed to properly support the channel and the customers.

  • Partner with Brand to ensure consistency of voice across business advertising/communications and leverage Brand campaigns to support business goals.

Ideal candidates will offer


  • Bachelor's Degree , Master's preferred.

  • Minimum of 7+ years overall total marketing and communications experience in a consumer and/or retail oriented business required. Desirable to have at least 2 years on the client side and 2 years on the agency side in roles with strategic responsibility.

  • Strong Modern Marketer with the ability to understand and grasp marketing strategy and approach, leverage data and insights to inform communications and recommended approaches.

  • Expertise with both online and offline marketing tactic development and delivery. Knows what it takes from experience to deliver creative that will achieve marketing objectives and succeed in the market.

  • Experience managing internal/external agencies and vendors who produce communications on behalf of Cigna.

  • Ability to see larger picture and make connections as to how strategies/messaging and tactics work together.

  • Ability to drive and measure results.

  • Critical thinker and creative problem solver. Self-motivated individual who takes initiative, exercises good judgment in resolving difficult and unusual situations.

  • Team player capable of balancing departmental needs with and enterprise objectives.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, highly matrixed environment with changing priorities and requirements.

  • Able to effectively drive results by fostering collaboration and buy-in for change improvement.

  • Ability to manage and motivate support resources.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of $84,800 - $141,300, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
