Role Summary

Reporting to the SVP, Enterprise Operations Strategy & Enablement, this leader would be responsible for developing and driving our Enterprise Operations roadmap in partnership with Client/Customer, Provider and our Enterprise Partners.

Responsibilities are focused on creating a centralized Enterprise Operations process to determine where to compete and drive identification of value creation requirements needed to service our providers, clients and customers successfully as well as build programs to deliver and communicate Cigna's differentiated value to target audiences. Success is measured via scorecard metrics inclusive of provider, client and customer NPS. In addition, this role includes developing and ensuring execution of the strategic agenda, including multi-year strategic planning, developing business plans, securing funding for prioritized strategic initiatives, and coordinating strategic efforts with broader Enterprise business partners.

The role will lead/oversee a strategy and M&A team and closely partner with business leaders in the across Enterprise Operations and within the Enterprise. In addition, the role will serve as an organizational steward for connectivity and alignment across various business areas to ensure we have strong partnerships and alignment on our path forward.

The role will guide and collaborate with Cross-Business Enablement Leaders, Operations Leaders and associated key matrix partners in shaping the ongoing refinement and management of the Multi-Year Enterprise Operating Plan.

The role will be responsible for triaging Enterprise Operating Plan issues and facilitating necessary decisions. The incumbent will also serve as a liaison to the Enterprise Portfolio process to ensure that the Multi-Year Enterprise Operating Planning process and the portfolio process work in concert to drive the delivery of the company's financial performance targets as well as its goals in support of Drive to 2025.

This will be a highly visible Leadership position within the organization that is critical to meeting our service goals and financial objectives.

Leads our Enterprise Operations Mergers and Acquisition function where this team will proactively evaluate integration opportunities to outline potential value, costs and synergies in order to identify critical path components to develop an implementation recommendation as well as lead integration program execution. This role will also create best practices and standard playbooks for integration pre-close evaluation/considerations, post-close implementation program structure and execution. Works across Enterprise Operations to create a centralized roadmap, process and tools.

Role Components


  • Responsible for Enterprise Operations annual strategic planning process leveraging stakeholder and competitive research and analysis, market sizing and projection modeling, and review of strengths/competency, opportunities and gaps. Effectively articulate and position the strategy for leadership and translate to inform business.

  • Partner with key stakeholders to develop critical provider, client and customer insights to drive Enterprise Operations innovative approaches to those we serve. Fully understand provider, employer and customer marketplace needs, external environmental influences, and competitive offerings and provide key input to segment/product strategies.

  • Determines where to compete and drive aggregated strategy for servicing clients, providers and customers. Partner with key stakeholders to identify changes in the environment, macro-trends, stakeholders' needs and competitor strategies - evaluate, adjust, or redirect the business plan to address risk and capitalize on opportunity.

  • Works with leadership team in formulating and implementing strategy, socialization of shared vision and aspiration across the enterprise, and best practice programs and policies. Further improve expense management controls in order to eliminate unnecessary costs outside of those required for growing our business.

  • Partner closely with Enterprise Operations Leaders, Project SEED team and cross-enterprise partners to drive insights into actionable plans and growth to drive cross-functional development and execution of our service strategies in line with the needs of the served customer and aligned to business strategy. Support and proactively engage with Enterprise Operations SEED champions.

  • Creates and provides management oversight of the Optimization Roadmap, bringing diverse expertise in areas of strategy, operations, finance, as well as strong project and portfolio management skills. Ensure alignment across Enterprise Operations and beyond as necessary.

  • Represents the Enterprise Operations team to key internal matrix partners while promoting informed data and collaborative partnerships.

  • Works to identify and drive alignment and collaboration opportunities between Client, Customer, Provider and key partnerships in Enterprise business areas.

  • Partners with other strategy teams to identify and prioritize risks and issues that need to be raised to our senior leadership team otherwise addressed appropriately.

  • Provides guidance and advice to matrix partners based on data and insights collected.

  • Aligns with Project SEED team to translate Enterprise priorities and objectives into key strategic priorities. Drives ongoing refinement of the business roadmap based on feedback from matrix partners.

  • Drives the collaboration with the Technology and other business areas to align their resource prioritization efforts with our business roadmap.

  • Leads a small team, develops talent, and fosters a work environment where the team can thrive and bring their best selves to work every day.

  • Leads and drives merger and acquisition opportunities through assessments, evaluations, and recommendations as well as execution. Creates Enterprise Operations playbook for M&A initiatives.

Qualifications


  • M.B.A., M.P.P., M.P.H., or other relevant graduate training is preferred

  • The preferred candidate will have at least 7-10 years of work experience in health care finance, operations strategy, or a related field or discipline

  • Strong analytical and finance skills are required

  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills, including an ability to present work products to senior executives

  • Experience managing teams of direct reports and matrix partners is required

  • Management or operations consulting experience is preferred, but not required

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of $196,700 - $327,900, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus and long term incentive plan.
