Dow has a great and challenging opportunity for a Senior Reliability Engineer to join our location in Plaquemine, Louisiana. You will be responsible for our Hydrocarbons facilities.

The Senior Reliability Engineer facilitates development of the business/facility maintenance strategy and solves reliability and availability losses through application of reliability technology and tools to enable the plant to meet its business plan and strategy. You will focus on those opportunities that over a long-term period or historically have impacted the plant's measured asset capability and the opportunities identified as "high-risk" in risk assessments, reliability models and other evaluations. Therefore, you need to have an expanded conceptual and practical knowledge in your own job discipline while also broadening your capabilities.

About you

You are a team player that requires minimal supervision. You have a strong technical knowledge of process equipment and can lead reliability efforts to increase equipment performance and decrease plant downtime.

Also, you can complete each of the following tasks:


  • Sets and Achieves plant PSR targets.

  • Creates Equipment Reliability Strategies based upon Top Opportunity List, Critical Equipment List, and identified plant/business needs.

  • Validates ERS implementation and closes gaps to improve/sustain reliability improvement.

  • Evaluates effectiveness of individual aspects of the PPM program by showing quantitatively the impact of failures and Predictive Preventive Maintenance (PPM).

  • Identifies and resolve Top Reliability Opportunities and decrease equipment failure losses in order to meet the site Product Supply Reliability improvement goals for the given year.

  • Uses reliability engineering principles and tools (Weibull, RCI, FMEA) to identify and eliminate negative reliability trends and equipment performance.

  • Develops and implements the Facility Reliability Strategy.

  • Serves as RCI Team Leader with proven RCI skills, coaches others in RCI facilitation and ensures strong RCI/CAPA fundamentals are practiced within the unit.

  • Provides front end loading support for plant Turnarounds.

  • Facilitates the Reliability Team and implement of the HRO principles within the unit, building strong partnerships and coaching/teaching as needed.

Required qualifications


  • A minimum of Bachelor's degree in Engineering or relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E6 ranking OR Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class ranking.

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in reliability, engineering, manufacturing, or related experience

  • Demonstrated facilitative leadership such as team leader for a project or initiative

Your skills, knowledge, and abilities include:


  • Being proficient in Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel

  • Experience with SAP, APM, and Apollo Root Cause Analysis

  • Demonstrating competencies in the areas of: leadership, initiative, teamwork, and interpersonal effectiveness

  • Ensuring a safe work environment by working safely and, complying with environmental, health and safety standards

  • Strong work ethic and being able to remain productive in an empowered team environment
