Within the Dean's Office Administrative Services Team, our Financial Services team serves as the trusted, comprehensive resource for financial information and business processes in the IU School of Medicine, providing meaningful, timely, and accurate data; and support for financial analysis, budget, accounting, reporting and business services. Financial Services accomplishes their mission through knowledge-sharing and collaboration, serving as the leader for effective management and stewardship of financial resources, ensuring compliance with university, state, and federal policy, while providing support to departments, centers, and key stakeholders of the IU School of Medicine.

Job Summary
The Business Manager of CME manages and carries out the financial responsibilities of the IUSM Dean's Division of continuing medical education, which is the CME provider for IUSM's 9 locations, IU Health's many locations, and many other schools on campus. Specifically, the Business Manager will develop, prioritize, and implement strategic plans related to finance. CME is one of the largest educational activity accreditation providers in the US; as such, it needs to function as efficiently as possible, in a fiscally healthy manner, while at the same time doing so that is user friendly to our learners and clients, this position will support this endeavor by organizing financial resources to operate successfully.
General Responsibilities
Using knowledge and application of accepted procedures and standards, performs detailed financial and administrative tasks related to managing the daily and long-term financial and/or administrative operations of an organizational unit or an academic, research, and teaching department within a school or college.
Makes recommendations on policies and guidelines for division/department activities.
Controls all expenditures and statement of accounts to ensure regulatory compliance and fiscal integrity.
Manages general appropriation, endowment, federal and non-federal grants and contracts, and gift funds.
Develops, plans, and makes recommendations on special projects, which may include space allocations, staffing, equipment purchases, and long-range plans.
Prepares operating and project budget drafts. Regularly explains financial concepts to non-financial employees.
Monitors division/departmental budgets and resolves or recommends resolutions for any significant deviations from approved budgets.
May conduct a variety of human resources activities including employment, labor relations, benefits, training, and classification for unit/department.
May provide guidance to lower-level employees.

Bachelor's degree in finance, business, or a related field

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus.
