The Highlights

As part of the Leadership Engagement and Initiatives team within the Division of Advancement and External Relations, the Associate Director, Leadership Engagement will serve as the driver for fundraising communications from university leadership and trustees, including proposals, talking points, and email communications. This position will foster internal partnerships, collaborating on leadership engagement opportunities that support DePaul University's strategic priorities.

Is This You?

  • Lead on proposal writing and corollary materials with an emphasis on $1 million+ fundraising opportunities. Work closely with trustees, president, vice president, gift officers, donor relations, advancement leadership, and academic administration to collect information, feedback and approval on materials to support fundraising efforts.
  • Create and maintain proposal templates for common fundraising opportunities that can be utilized directly by gift officers.
  • Help facilitate the seamless execution of proposals and collateral for individual giving officers. Specifically, maintain a proposal library, manage the proposal queue, coordinate the approval process, and ensure the delivery of high-quality communications.
  • In partnership with the Advancement Communications and Donor Relations teams, write additional collateral, such as one-page overviews, impact reports, and similar targeted communications.
  • Help develop or partner on other initiative-related materials, especially related to principal gift fundraising efforts. May be asked to help with writing projects for other Advancement teams on an ad-hoc basis.
  • Maintain, strengthen, and manage relationships with primary internal stakeholders (University Marketing and Communication, Associate Deans, Advancement Communications, Foundation and Corporate Relations).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Your Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • A minimum four years of work experience in nonprofit management, advancement, communications, donor relations, alumni relations, or similar work preferred.
  • Experience in a higher education setting is strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience writing individual donor proposals, grants or stewardship reports strongly preferred.
Other Skills & Abilities Required
  • Excellent verbal, writing, and presentation skills, organizational and project management skills, and exacting attention to detail required.
  • Proven ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, and meet short deadlines required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrated initiative, and work both independently and within a team.
  • Work effectively and diplomatically with colleagues, as well as with students, faculty and corporate contacts in a multitude of communication methods i.e., in person, email, phone.
  • Creative and resourceful with strong problem-solving skills and willingness to seek out, coordinate, and appropriately disseminate information to key stakeholders.
  • A strong commitment to customer service and interest in relationship building.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
