The Accounting Manager is responsible for the general accounting and reporting activities for Linde Gas & Equipment Inc. (LG&E) and leads a team of accountants to ensure the day-to-day maintenance of a complete and accurate general ledger, preparing financial reports, assisting with acquisitions, analyzing and reporting variances, and working with external & internal auditors. This position reports to the Associate Director of Accounting. Primary Responsibilities: - Responsible for the general accounting and reporting function for the LG&E organization and leading a team of 5-6 accountants. - Coordinates and supervises the development and implementation of new policies and procedures required to address new accounting guidance. - Acts as a liaison between LG&E and Internal & External Audits on various accounting matters. - Assists in the integration of newly acquired businesses, including oversight of the preparation of opening balance sheet and adoption of Linde policies and procedures (i.e., purchase accounting). - Works closely with region business controllers to provide day to day accounting and financial support - Assist region business controllers with JDE set up - Applies in-depth accounting knowledge to solve moderate problems. - Interprets internal or external accounting issues and recommends best practices. - Month end responsibilities include preparation of journal entries, financial reports, account reconciliations and monitoring month end close calendar. - Coordinates with Corporate Accounting to ensure all monthly reports are completed timely and accurately - Ensures daily cash reconciliation variances are investigated and resolved - Ensures accounting conforms with GAAP, company policies, and SOX documentation - Ad hoc projects Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Accounting / Finance required - CPA preferred - 5-10 years of Accounting or Finance experience required - Minimum of 3+ years managing and/or leading others - Strong experience with MS Excel, Access, and Word - Experience and knowledge of JD Edwards.
