Job Description:

Environmental Resources Management, Inc. (ERM) is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Staff Environmental Engineer or Geologist to join our growing team in Philadelphia, Indiana.  Working under the direction of project managers, senior engineers, and partners, the successful candidate will work on interesting site investigation and remediation projects at industrial sites and related projects throughout the Atlantic Central Business Unit and other US locations.  You may also have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, covering the full spectrum of ERM’s services on a global level.

This is a great opportunity to work with ERM's technical experts to implement the latest site investigation and remediation technologies while building the required experience to obtain your professional registration.   Representative responsibilities under the guidance of more experienced staff may include;

RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Coordinate and oversee field work including soil, sediment, groundwater and surface water sampling, aquifer testing, drilling oversight and soil logging, soil boring and monitoring well installation, well development, purging and sampling, and subcontractor oversight. 

  • Coordinate and oversee direct drilling, surveying, and laboratory services.

  • Assist in data interpretation and preparation of site work plans, spreadsheets, figures, and technical reports.

  • Focus on project delivery, taking direction primarily from Project Managers.

  • Assist in ensuring compliance with all federal, state and local regulations.

  • Interact with scientists in the site investigation, risk management, and planning disciplines as part of an integrated team as well as engineers in design and construction projects.

  • Work within quality/budget/schedule expectations and scope-specific assignments.

  • Communicate and interact with subcontractors, regulatory agents and team members.

REQUIREMENTS:


  • BS in geology, hydrogeology, geological engineering, civil engineering, environmental science or related degree. Or 8+ years equivalent experience.

  • Candidates for this entry-level position will have up to 3 years work experience or related internship experience. 

  • Experience with AutoCAD/GIS a plus.

  • Field work experience and 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification a plus.

  • Strong commitment to safety, including following established Health and Safety protocols.

  • Valid driver’s license and a good driving record.

  • Up to 75% travel may be required.

  • Effective written/verbal communication and organization/analytical skills; experience recording/writing detailed technical data and reports a plus. 

  • Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, travel, and work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Local candidates preferred.
