Operationally manage the logistics of ongoing animal clinical trials performed at the Fort Dodge, IA site including, but not limited to: animal socialization, the collection of clinical samples and/or observations, clinical operations, and the execution of other study events.

Basic Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s of Science in relevant field (examples: biology, animal science, etc.) OR Masters of Science in relevant field (examples: biology, animal science, etc.)




• Required to achieve AALAS (American Association of Laboratory Animal Science) described LAT (Laboratory Animal Technician) within one year of employment




• This position is not permanent. It is for a fixed duration of two years with potential to extend annually for up to 4 years.

Job Responsibilities:

• Performs and completes animal procedures independently and in alignment with applicable regulations, working instructions, and SOPs.




• Lead multiple assignments and tasks related to the development of R&D animal products which includes the study execution of animal in-life study events.




• Perform administration of test articles, collect clinical samples, conduct clinical/general health observations, socialize animals and record data.




• Perform concurrent documentation of all animal study-related activities in an efficient manner in accordance with the protocol, applicable SOPs and regulations.




• Review complex experimental protocols and actively collaborate with key stakeholders to enhance and identify impacts of study execution (clinical techniques, animal welfare, AAALAC, etc.)




• Support business-facing functions such as clinical study scheduling, sourcing, and site services interactions.




• Provide a developed and applied knowledge on respective animal species (behavior, needs, and physiological data).




• Review raw data for accuracy to ensure high quality results.




• Coordinate scheduling and resource management for execution of animal clinical studies.




• Establish relationships with key stakeholders (Study Directors, Laboratory Staff, Animal Care Staff) to ensure animal clinical studies are effectively supported and coordinate as required.




• Review and provide recommendations to standard operating procedures and study protocols.




• Conduct animal clinical studies in accordance with appropriate government regulations and guidelines (USDA, GLP, etc..)




• Troubleshoot problems and take corrective actions.




• Communicate regularly, effectively, and timely within team and across multiple functions.




• Other duties as assigned

Additional Preferences:

• Experience with animal handling in a clinical environment.




• Knowledge of PC package tools including word processing (Word) and spreadsheets (Excel)




• Advanced ability to communicate verbally and in writing




• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions




• Effective interpersonal skills, including conflict management
