City Experiences is seeking a Quality Assurance Specialist for our Hornblower Shipyard operation in Bridgeport.

About the Opportunity:

This position has responsibility for developing and conducting test and inspection procedures for all aspects of marine construction projects.

About You:

This person will be adaptable, dynamic, and embody City Experiences’ RESPECT Service System.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Supports project management team with coordination and completion of quality inspections

  • Directs aspects of all documentation relation to quality assurance inspections

  • Supports resolution of quality issues that may arise between installation team and subcontractors

  • Develops and provides input for the Test and Inspection Plans, QA workbooks, and process control procedures

  • Implements and maintains vessel specific inspection plans and requirements per applicable contract requirements or as assigned

  • Monitors work to ensure workmanship is in accordance with regulatory and quality standards

  • Performs in-process quality assessments prior to customer inspections

  • Generates and maintains all documentation relation to inspections performed

  • Manage all meetings, inspections, and communications with USCG and other regulatory personnel

  • Support meetings between customer and contractor

  • Support ongoing training activities

  • Follows established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean

  • Assists with general operations of the yard, including but not limited to:

    • Removal of vessels from water using movable lift crane

    • Moving vessels in the yard

    • Positioning and securing blocking at the bottom and sides of the vessel according to size, weight, and weight distribution of vessels, using fasteners, hand tools and power tools




  • Conduct yourself with a positive and contagious attitude for others to emulate.

  • Keep the (PM) and others informed about project status and issues that may impact client relations.

  • Holds yourself and all employees accountable to the Environmental, Safety and Quality Respect and SMS systems of the organization and to work closely with the Manager of ISO/Respect & Training to implement such systems, plans and control of records and documentation.

  • Travel to project sites within the US and internationally as needed.

  • Other job duties as assigned.

Requirements & Qualifications:


  • High School diploma or GED required

  • Minimum (4) years of shipbuilding experience

  • Minimum (2) years of experience within quality control in the shipbuilding or marine industry

  • Preferred experience in performing nondestructive testing in VT, MT, PT, & UT methods

  • Exceptional understanding of USCG regulations

  • Must have demonstrated ability in technical writing, test procedures, and report development

  • Must have demonstrated experience in execution and engineering support of test related functions

  • Demonstrated ability to read and understand ship construction/repair drawings, schematics, and equipment operation procedures

  • Knowledge of construction site best practices and safety procedures

  • Basic computer skills as well as the ability to safely communicate with others in the English

  • Must Maintain a valid driver’s license

  • Ability to travel to jobs at different sites
