Seeking Mechanic - INCREASED WAGES - $28.60 Hourly Base (DOE).

We are excited to announce that we are seeking a dedicated Mechanic. $28.60 hourly base pay rate (DOE). LTI-Milky Way is the leader in bulk liquid transport throughout the Pacific Northwest and we are continuing to grow as well as seek new members of our talented team.

SUMMARY:

The Mechanic II is a vital member of the LTII Maintenance teams. The primary duty of the Mechanic II is to proficiently inspect, repair and maintain of our fleet of trucks, trailers and shop vehicles while observing all company safety and regulatory policies. The Mechanic II works in close collaboration with Maintenance Managers, Mechanics levels I and II, and Maintenance Assistants, as well as our Drivers, Wash Bay Staff and Yard Crew.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:


  • Ability to perform accurate diagnosis and repair of most Truck, Tanker & Trailer system.

  • Consistently perform all Truck, Tanker & Trailer maintenance as defined by LTII requirements.

  • Employee must demonstrate the ability to mentor and work within a Team environment.

  • Follows policies for inspection, maintenance, testing, and repair of LTII equipment.

  • Able to adapt to changes in job priorities quickly and work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Helping with parts reuse decisions based on manufacturer's recommendations.

  • Examines protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks, and makes adjustments.

  • Basic understanding of chassis electrical.

  • Ability to read basic electrical schematic.

  • Ability to Remove and Install Truck, Tanker & Trailer parts safely.

  • Repairs or replaces defective parts. Lubricates and cleans parts.

  • Starts and drives repaired equipment to verify conformance to specifications and to test their performance and may assist with equipment relocation.

  • Safely and properly operates drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.

  • Completes repair orders using company maintenance software system, recording materials used, type of work accomplished, and maintenance system codes.

  • Complies with all company safety policies, including use of protective equipment.

  • Troubleshoot and Repair 12 and 24 volt starting/charging systems.

  • Basic skills in the use of SMAW (Mig), Stick, Plasma Arc preferred.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

2 year Technical School graduate preferred. High school diploma or general education degree (GED); One year fleet maintenance or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:



Employee must meet Department of Transportation requirements and must possess a valid Driver's License.

Employee must be willing to receive an Air Conditioning Certificate and possess a brake certificate.

Employee must have own hand / air tools.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and taste or smell.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

REQUIRED PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE):

Employee is required to wear PPE as outlined in Company’s Industrial Health and Safety Manual Chapter 2.27 PPE Program, which may include hard hat, safety toe shoes/boots, gloves, safety glasses/goggles, hearing protection and respiratory protection.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.

The noise level in the work environment ranges from moderate to moderately loud.
