Seeking Mechanic I - $28.68 to $31.59 (DOE) + Robust Benefit Plan

SUMMARY:

The Mechanic I is a vital member of the LTII Maintenance teams. The primary duty of the Mechanic I is to inspect, repair and maintain our fleet of trucks, trailers and shop vehicles while observing all company safety and regulatory policies. The Mechanic I works in close collaboration with Maintenance Team as well as our Drivers, Wash Bay Staff and Yard Crew.

Responsibilities


  • Complies with all company safety policies, including use of protective equipment.


  • Follows policies for inspection, maintenance, testing, and repair of LTII equipment.


  • Performs all truck, tanker and trailer maintenance necessary as defined by LTII requirements.


  • Accurately diagnoses and repairs LTII equipment, removing and installing truck, tanker and trailer parts correctly and safely. Repairs or replaces defective parts. Lubricates and cleans parts.


  • Complete repair orders using company maintenance software systems, recording materials used, type of work accomplished and maintenance system codes.


  • Starts and drives repaired equipment to verify conformance to specifications and to test performance.


  • Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble. Reads job order and determines work procedures.


  • Safely and properly operates drill press, grinder and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.


  • Troubleshoot and repair 12 and 24 volt starting/charging systems.


  • Perform other duties as assigned.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); Technical School degree in related field is

recommended, or 2-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS:

It is preferred that employees possess or are willing to obtain a valid Commercial Driver's License with Class A Air, Doubles and Tankers endorsements.

 

Employee must be willing to receive an Air Conditioning Certificate.

 

Employee must possess or be willing to obtain an air brake certificate and become a certified DOT inspector.

 

Employee must have own hand / air tools.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

 

REQUIRED PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE)

Employee is required to wear PPE as outlined in Company’s Industrial Health and Safety Manual Chapter 2.27 PPE Program, which may include hard hat, safety toe shoes/boots, gloves, safety glasses/goggles, hearing protection and respiratory protection.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions and is exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.

 

The noise level in the work environment ranges from moderate to moderately loud.

 

A post conditional offer of employment physical, drug test and background investigation are required.
