Job Overview:
The Inbound Supply Chain Manager works closely with our buyers, category marketing managers, inbound and outbound logistics as well as outside freight carriers to manage our inbound needs, assuring our product and financial needs are met. It is their responsibility to position our product line with the highest ROI possible based on marketing, inventory management, and program maximization.
Expectations:
Responsible for daily routing of managed vendors.
Routes all managed orders effectively and accurately out of Retalix accordingly.Maintains the backhaul spreadsheet and sends out daily to transportation for next day order pick ups.Monitors and communicates late loads to buyers and category managers.Communicates with vendors for pick up or release numbers for routing efficiency.
Responsible for management of managed vendor lines and performance.
Profit performanceGrowth performanceUnderstand and utilize multiple modes of transportation to include rail, truck, air, piggyback, and local cartage operators serving the distribution center.Negotiate rates and service commitments with these carriers to assure the best possible service at the most reasonable rates. Qualify the carriers according to prescribed guidelines.
Involvement with Category Marketing Mangers and Buyers for new and existing managed vendors for growth and profit.
Identify and seek out new opportunities to maximize service and profit on backhauling vendor products.Record and analyze the product movements by vendor and destination.Work with Category Marketing Managers and Buyers to analyze vendors for potential freight management.Conduct freight audit on all managed vendor pricelist when received or at least annually.Notify purchasing of any late deliveries or other issues surrounding a load.Collaborate with the buyers in their efforts to lower days of inventory on hand, thereby gaining greater inventory turns.
Oversee inbound logistics responsibilities and software management.
Master and maintain the inbound routing software to have accurate and updated information at all timesUpdate monthly fuel pricing and surchargesEvaluate and meet regularly with carriers in terms of service, rates and claims and responsiveness to meet company needsAlways keep carrier contracts and certificates of insurance on file and up to date.
