Kemps has an immediate job opening for skilled Lead Refrigeration Technician, Responsible for the overall system functionality for the facilities ammonia refrigeration system daily as well as installs and repairs industrial and commercial refrigerating systems according to blueprints and engineering specifications, using knowledge of refrigeration, structural layout, and function and design of components. Responsible for operating, installing, maintaining, servicing, and repairing ammonia refrigeration systems, boiler (steam) systems, air compressor systems, wastewater treatment system, heating, venting, and air conditioning. Performs plant maintenance support duties, both planned and unplanned. Runs diagnostic tests on malfunctioning equipment and performs repairs and preventive/predictive maintenance activities in all areas of plant. Ensures that work is completed in accordance with relevant codes.

Job Description:
*The Lead Refrigeration Technician is responsible for the overall system functionality for the facility's ammonia refrigeration system. The Lead Refrigeration Technician installs and repairs industrial and commercial refrigerating systems according to blueprints and engineering specifications, using knowledge of refrigeration, structural layout, and function and design of components. The Lead Refrigeration Technician will also be responsible for maintaining the facilities Process Safety Management (PSM) program
* Maintain and perform preventative maintenance activities on ammonia refrigeration systems.
* Complete accurate and timely documentation of maintenance records.
* Observe and test system operation, using gauges and instruments.
* Is engaged in dismantling, assembling, and installing refrigeration equipment.
* Maintain communication with other departments, management and employees and notify them of any problems and/or concerns that may restrict the efficiency of production.
* Ensure all paperwork is filled out in a clear, legible, and accurate format, and completed with required information. Ensure all required information is documented in accordance with SOP's.
* Assist in maintaining parts and supplies inventory by reporting low supply levels to Supervisor
* Utilizing continuous improvement mindset, assist in identifying opportunities to improve processes. * Follow Good Manufacturing Practices.
* Maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe work area.
* Follow all required work safe practices. This would include lockout
*tagout requirements and wearing of all required PPE in designated areas, confined space safety, safe chemical handling, fall restraints, etc.
* Responsible for food safety, pre-requisite programs and food quality related to designated area. Report any food safety and food quality related issues to management immediately.
* Perform other duties as assigned.

PSM certification and EPA Universal license preferred. * Experience within the food and beverage industry preferred. * Professional experience with ammonia refrigeration systems required.
High school diploma or GED preferred
2-3 years field related experience
Must be able to pass all pre-employment screenings including drug, background and criminal checks
Minimum one year experience in a maintenance role within a manufacturing facility, preferably food and beverage industry
Minimum one year experience with one or more technical experiences: Electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic, computer-controlled equipment, PLC and/or HVAC
Minimum one year experience with a variety of equipment including lubricating, cleaning, material handling, motor control, relay control, process control and packaging equipment
Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
Must be able to handle basic hand tools
Must be able to stand, walk, kneel and bend required for virtually the entire shift; occasionally required to climb or balance
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
Must be able to work in a cold, wet environment with moderate to high noise volume
May experience some exposure to fumes airborne particles, chemicals or allergens
Must be willing to work flexible hours including overtime, weekends, and holiday
