Responsibilities

The Landscape Maintenance Business Developer is responsible for creating opportunities to bid for new contract maintenance sales, accurately estimating the maintenance and closing an acceptable number of those bids. A steady stream of profitability indicates satisfactory performance in this position.


  • Within your assigned geographic territory know the new contact maintenance jobs coming out to bid and track them on the branch's computerized prospecting system.

  • Develop relationships with existing and potential customers with the ultimate goal of negotiating renewal and new business.

  • Develop an extensive knowledge of Ruppert Landscape, Inc., its services and its operating procedures.

  • Produce accurate estimates for contract maintenance work.

  • Develop presentations and materials that enhance the appearance of our bids.

  • Arrange meetings with decision makers on all critical bids.

  • Follow up with the area manager after the sale to ensure that the client's expectations are being met. React to any deficiencies immediately and completely.

  • On own authority, take necessary action to solve customer service problems.

  • With branch manager, decisions are made on bid pricing, all purchases and any issue affecting the long-term direction of the branch.



Qualifications


  • Demonstrated ability in developing new sales leads.

  • Must have at least two years sales experience including, but not limited to, cold-calling, and relationship selling.

  • Demonstrated skill and ability, with at least two years experience, in the area of estimating contract maintenance work (using computers).

  • Demonstrated understanding of production management in a landscape management branch.

  • Four-year related degree and two years industry experience. Additional industry experience can substitute for a non-related degree, two-year degree or no degree.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
