The Bowling Green manufacturing facility is looking for top talent to lead our facility to best in class performance levels and culture. We are currently building a 3-5 year journey to automate, build capability and deliver results. The Automation Engineer will provide leadership to all capital projects related to automation and controls. This will be an individual contributor role who will be a subject matter expert in the areas of automation and controls.
Identify new opportunities for automation within the current and future manufacturing process
Investigates and recommends the most effective methods to always keep the company at competitive edge and conducts cost comparison studies
Designing new automation projects or processes that align to the strategic digital transformation vision
Contributes heavily from feasibility/scope up to start-up of controls- and automation-related projects and services
Writing reports for senior colleagues outlining new concepts, testing outcomes, and ongoing efficiency.
Programming new automation components to the manufacturing process with Function Block, Structured Text and Ladder Logic languages
Developing and maintaining clear and accurate documentation of automation equipment or processes
Collaborate with other business units to understand how automation can improve workflow
Identify continuous improvement opportunities and quality issues in development, service or business processes
Provide equipment start-up and troubleshooting expertise to all areas of the facility
Works with Contractors, Department Managers and Maintenance staff to troubleshoot problems and improve processes
YOUR SKILLS
More than 10 years of automation and controls experience in a manufacturing setting, preferably in consumer goods, food, chemical or pharmaceutical industries.
Have been part of large (>$5 million) capital projects
Bachelor's degree in engineering
Programming experience: Understanding of software design techniques, such as modular and phase programming in Siemens and Rockwell platforms is highly preferable. Exposure to batch programming and OMAC PackML is also preferred.
Experience with of industrial networking: Ethernet/IP, Profinet. IT networking protocols and architecture are a plus.
Knowledge of the PlantPAx DCS and objects
Knowledge in the areas of electrical design, automation system design, current technologies, human machine interface design, and industrial networks.
Knowledge of NEC, ANSI, ISO, and IEC standards is preferred
New equipment commissioning and high efficiency start up procedure experience is highly preferable
