West Virginia University College of Creative Arts is currently accepting applications for a Web and Graphic Designer.



As a Web and Graphic Designer, you will be part of a marketing and enrollment-focused team within the College of Creative Arts Office of the Dean. This position works to elevate and promote student experiences and grow enrollment at the College of Creative Arts and its three Schools along with enhancing the mission of the Art Museum of WVU. Their primary responsibility is to help create materials utilizing and evolving the University brand that communicate enrollment and development needs effectively across multiple platforms under the guidance of the marketing and communications team. 


They will assist with creating materials for events that enhance the student experience and our community’s exposure to the arts, including lectures, performances, concerts, mainstage shows, Art Museum of WVU exhibitions and Mesaros Gallery openings. They will think creatively to adapt the WVU Design System to help update content on the College’s websites and assist with editing and creating website designs and HTML emails that are accessible to all users. They will also assist with creating branded digital graphics for social media communications, infostations, billboards, video, and other digital advertising needs. 


The Web and Graphic Designer will use illustration, layout and typography skills to create print pieces including booklets, brochures, postcards, posters and more utilizing the University brand. Their work will be seen through hundreds of events and impact thousands of current students, prospective students, alumni, donors and faculty and will enhance the mission of the College of Creative Arts, its subsequent units, and the University.

What you’ll do:



  • Utilize and adapt University branding to create compelling marketing materials across print and digital platforms for all events at the College of Creative Arts that improve the student experience and help each unit reach their target audience. These events include School of Theatre & Dance mainstage shows, School of Music performances, School of Art & Design lectures and events, as well as Art Museum of WVU exhibition openings and miscellaneous events. Creative assets for these events may include sketches, illustration, brochures, postcards, billboards, banners, advertisements, social media graphics, emails, and landing pages on websites. 

  • Assists with website design for all projects and events as well as HTML email creation under the guidance of the marketing and communications team. Fields content update requests for all College of Creative Arts websites. 

  • Assists the Director of Communications and Communications Specialist with the creation and implementation of marketing materials for enrollment, development, or outreach across digital platforms and in print media.  

  • Assists with monitoring Siteimprove accessibility checker on the College’s websites and implementing necessary changes to maintain appropriate usability for all. 

  • Other needs as assigned for special projects from the Office of the Dean. 

 


 



Qualifications




  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Multimedia or similar.

  • A minimum of two (2) years experience in the following:

    • Experience with general design concepts

    • Experience working with clients to design print materials and/or websites

    • Experience working with a content management system

    • Experience writing CSS and HTML



  • Must be proficient with the Adobe Creative Suite.

  • Must have experience with HTML and CSS.

  • Must be able to work effectively with one concept to apply it across several media formats including web, HTML emails, multimedia, illustrations, video, and print.

  • Must have experience with working with a content management system.

  • Experience working with a branding system preferred but not required.

  • Enjoys working with a team in a fast-paced environment.

  • Has curiosity and willingness to experiment with new ideas.
