Coordinates and assists departments with financial oversight of actual results to plan with a focus on identifying opportunities for improvement and efficiencies to support current goals and objectives. Performs financial evaluation of new programs and capital equipment requests as requested by department leadership. Prepares analyses and reviews financial results for accuracy in conjunction with the monthly financial statement close. Prepares analyses for appropriate revenue and expense capture. Aids in revenue integrity efforts. Directs operating plan preparation and forecasting in conjunction with the office of financial planning and analysis. Monitors, effectively summarizes, and communicates the status of all financial targets/goals. Serves as the Finance representative on all committees as requested. Ensures that all operational managers are provided training on all available financial systems and reports that are necessary to independently manage their departments. Responsible for summarizing, monitoring, and reporting status of all financial targets for each department Trains, mentors, hires, and supervises department staff, as needed. Ensures internal control oversight and compliance with laws and regulations, safeguarding of assets, compliance with University policies and procedures, reliability of internal and external reporting, and efficiency and effectiveness of operations. Creates an effective control environment, conducts risk assessment, implements and monitors controls.

Patient safety is a top priority. As a result, during the Influenza ("the flu") season (September through April), the University Of Miami Miller School Of Medicine requires all employees who provide ongoing services to patients, work in a location (all Hospitals and clinics) where patient care is provided, or work in patient care or clinical care areas, to have an annual influenza vaccination.
