We're looking for a Phlebotomist / Medical Assistant to join our fast-paced, customer-focused laboratory/ primary care/adult medicine/pediatric teams for Cigna Medical Group across the Phoenix Valley. Work hours: Typically Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Some hours may vary based on the location. (7a-4p)

What you'll do:

  • Ensure day-to-day operations run like a well-oiled machine: Use your supernatural organizational powers to help manage the health care needs of our varied patient populations, accurately follow all policies and procedures, provide excellent customer service through all avenues of communication, practice in alignment with the scope of your certification or licensure, appropriately manage ambiguity, recognize appropriate ways to deal with conflict management, and properly document your efforts of all the care and information provided to our patients.
  • Get hands-on: This role is a dual role, in which the medical assistant will perform phlebotomy and medical assistant duties. Working in the lab will include, verifying the patient's identity, collecting blood and urine specimens, and providing patient instructions on the collection of specimens. You will prepare, label, and arrange collection containers for transport to the proper reference laboratories, identify stat processing requests and expedite the procedures as required. Sort and distribute laboratory results to ensure they reach the proper destination. Coordinate and assist the front office with lab check-in to minimize patient wait time, and assist with performing EKG's as needed.

  • For medical assistants, you may be rooming for a provider, which includes taking vital signs, entering data in patient chart, assisting with in-office procedures, reviewing medications, and outreaching to patients and providers for the purposes of continuing care. You may also be returning calls to patients, answering questions for patients, completing referrals, chart prep, and forms management. Overall, you will work with the clinicians, your peers, and the patients to meet the needs of the practice. Great communication is a "must" to be successful.

This job is for you if you:


  • Graduate of approved MA program or graduate of an unapproved program with successful completion of certification examination; graduate of a US Armed Forces medical services program or practicing medical assistant who completed supervision requirements prior to February 2, 2000 ("grandfather clause").

  • Comfortable performing phlebotomy skills on adult and pediatric patients High school diploma or GED certificate

  • Have excellent customer skills, and care deeply about providing empathetic, quality care to customers

  • Have spent time in a healthcare environment

  • Know your way around a computer

  • BLCS certification


Bonus points for:

  • 1+ year experience in the outpatient setting

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills
