Position Summary...

What you'll do...

Lead Copywriter - Communications

We're looking for an exceptional Lead Copywriter to join our Creative Communications team. In this role, you'll help drive the internal and external communications strategy for Walmart's U.S. Omni Tech organization. You'll serve as a trusted counselor to our U.S. Omni Tech executives and VPs, supporting them in the development of email announcements, all hands/town hall PowerPoint presentations, newsletters, thought leadership blog articles, and other creative communications content. You'll work to tell powerful stories about the organization's strategy to our internal audiences, helping to build morale and increase associate engagement. This position is remote and will report to the Head of Copy and Design for Walmart's U.S. Omni Tech organization.

Responsibilities


  • Develop and execute communications initiatives across the U.S. Omni Tech organization

  • Write and copyedit messaging around various topics, including company strategy, priorities, and announcements

  • Partner closely with U.S. Omni Tech executives to develop communications strategies for their respective areas

  • Develop clear, compelling content that explains complex ideas and technology in ways that are accessible to everyone

  • Identify content gaps and propose logical ways to solve them based on data

  • Ensure all-around consistency (style, fonts, images, and tone)

  • Participate in team meetings to estimate content requirements and deadlines, set up SME interviews, work within the team calendar to anticipate upcoming requests and deliver content within the needed timelines

  • Partner closely with visual designers on copy for creative assets

  • Work with product managers, engineers, UX designers, technology leaders, and other subject matter experts to gather and document product information

  • Participate in planning meetings, estimate documentation requirements, and provide status updates on progress

  • Experience using a writing style guide and assisting in defining standards, style, and terminology

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with leadership, stakeholders, and other writers

  • Demonstrated excellence collaborating with cross-functional teams across a global organization

  • Ability to prioritize and report on multiple tasks for several projects, stakeholders, and team members


  • Ability to clearly articulate the business goals and objectives for the organization

  • Ability to create and mentor others on the production of engaging copy

Education and Experience Qualifications

  • BA in Communications, English, or a relevant area

  • 10+ years of internal/external communications or copywriting experience

  • Experience counseling and influencing senior executives

  • Experience producing creative and engaging communications content

  • Experience managing or mentoring at least one other person
