We're looking for an Energy Storage Project Manager who's will be to support the advancement of renewable energy development in North America by leading the diligence on gigawatts of energy storage projects. DNV's Renewable & Power Grids group is making exciting investments in energy storage and is growing its team in 2021 and beyond. We know the energy storage markets are growing faster than anyone has predicted; we are committed to supporting this growth with the best data, advice, and expertise on the planet!As an Energy Storage Project Manager, you will work on a variety of unique energy storage projects that include technologies such as lithium-ion and flow batteries. You will work closely with industry leaders, financiers, and cutting-edge technology developed by some of the most well-known manufacturers, investors, and developers.
Our team sits at the engineering nexus between energy storage technology and financing to support transactions that grow the market. Through client contracts, we work independently as a voice for the industry. You will be an independent engineer supporting the design, financing, and construction of all types of standalone and renewable-paired storage projects throughout North America. Our clients range from the largest financial institutions in the world to regional project developers who rely upon our reports as part of their investment decisions. The Project Manager will be responsible for leading the technical due diligence process, contributing as a subject matter expert, and coordinating and communicating with clients. The right person will ultimately weave the highly technical project content into a story that identifies technical, contractual, and financial risks which can be understood by engineers and investors.This position is Remote from any of our DNV offices across the continental US.
What You'll Do
Initiating and coordinating the technical review process among internal specialists (including civil and electrical engineering, energy assessment, technology experts, permitting, battery safety, etc.)
Contributing to the review of contracts and technical specifications of energy storage projects and products, including warranties, offtake agreements, supply agreements, service agreements, and financial models
Communicating with clients to provide timely and relevant project updates and deliverables while ensuring milestones are met and expectations are exceeded
Building business with existing and new clients by demonstrating DNV's value and developing proposals in response to sole sourced requests or RFPs
Participating in continuous improvement efforts for the ESE team, including tool development, process refinement, and lessons learned activities
Developing content for blog posts, industry conferences, and client workshops
Juggling multiple projects and levels of responsibility simultaneously
Converting with vague and incomplete information into well-informed, risk-mitigated conclusions
Collaborating with technical specialists to write and peer review due diligence reports
Coordinating construction and operational monitoring by DNV, including performing site visits, reviewing construction documents, progress reports, schedules, budgets, change orders, and invoices to ensure the project is built as designed to meet performance expectations
Working with a diverse group of fun and talented people

Position Qualifications
What is Required
Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline or related field
Minimum 3 years of experience in batteries, energy storage, and or solar + storage development in the context of engineering, estimation, construction, development, origination, consulting, finance, or project management
Familiarity with energy industry technology (batteries, inverters, PV modules, PV mounting systems, balance of system components, etc.)
Experience in being part of collaborative project team(s) and ability to be customer facing
Comfort with interpreting, analyzing, and synthesizing data in Microsoft Office Suite and presenting findings to customers
Experience managing projects and/or teams
Maintain a customer-focused, consultative approach to projects and customer needs
Work within expected deadlines, while being adaptive to changing scope or customer needs
Willingness and ability to travel up to 10-15% of the time
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills

What is Preferred
Advanced degree in engineering or related field
Experience interacting with customers directly and building relationships with clients technical writing experience
Candidates can have any or all the following skillsets:
Capability to model or simulate energy storage operations
Solar and/or storage industry construction and operating contracts, solar project construction, operations/asset management, solar project design/development, module/inverter technology, power marketing/offtake contracting, or energy storage technology and implementation
Experience with energy storage hardware
