Maintenance Worker at Glade Run Lutheran Services

Job Description:

JOB EXPECTATIONS:  The Maintenance Worker provides maintenance services as needed and/or assigned; assisting in a wide variety of maintenance activities; addressing immediate operational and/or safety concerns; assisting skilled trades; and ensuring that tools, materials and vehicles are maintained in good working order and are available at job site when needed.  This position requires the ability to work both independently and/or under supervision. This position is full-time with early morning hours required in the winter months for snow/ice removal and salting.  

REQUIREMENTS
1.    High school diploma or equivalent.
2.    Must be able to read and write English, do simple arithmetic, and follow oral and written instructions.
3.    Must have the capacity to grasp and adjust to new and changing situations.
4.    Must be able to adjust hours to job requirements. 
5.    Must be able to work independently.
6.    Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
7.    Access to a telephone.   Must be reachable by telephone. 
8.    Act 33/34 and FBI clearances.
9.    Must be able to identify with the agency Mission Statement and support the agency’s Core Values.

Physical Requirements:
1.    Manual dexterity and ability to work under pressure.
2.    Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
3.    Must be capable of standing on feet for 7-8 hours at a time.

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 10% sitting, 45% walking, and 45% standing. The job is performed under regular temperature variations and in a generally hazard free environment.

  6. Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the agency.

  7. Repairs equipment, furniture and building system components for the purpose of ensuring a safe working condition

  8. Performs a wide variety of general and semiskilled maintenance activities (e.g. carpentry, painting, electrical, etc.) for the purpose of completing projects within established time frames.

  9. Maintains agency vehicles, tools and equipment for the purpose of ensuring availability and that they are in safe operating condition

  10. Assists the Director of Maintenance with projects (e.g. transporting and/or securing materials, completing specific tasks, etc.) for the purpose of completing projects in a safe, efficient manner.

  11. Responds to emergency situations during and after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns

  12. Maintains grounds (including landscaping needs & snow removal) areas as needed for the purpose of providing an effective, safe working/learning environment, preventing damage and/or limiting liability exposure.

  13. Arranges furniture and equipment for the purpose of providing adequate preparations for special events.
