The Director of Financial Administration manages all things financial for the Office of the Vice President for Research and Partnerships (VPRP). We are seeking an experienced and analytical finance director with strong numerical skills to drive our organization's financial operations and improve financial performance.
The spectrum of responsibilities includes planning, implementing, and supervising all VPRP financial strategies and including analysis and projections based on charts and analytics. Manage the VPRP's financial accounts, payrolls, budget, cash receipts, and financial assets. Oversee standard operating budgets for all VPRP departments, strategic research centers, and University core facilities to fiscal project management of faculty startups, retentions, and renovations. The successful candidate will be a hands-on and collaborative manager with proven experience in accounting, budgeting, contracts, compliance, and office administration. This position reports to the Chief of Staff and Associate Vice President for Research and Partnerships for Operations
Typical Functions May Include:
1. Oversee and manage day-to-day financial management of the VPRP organization. Analyze and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly and annual financial statements; collate financial reporting materials for all donor segments; and oversee all financial, project/program, and grants accounting.
2. Develop budgets for OVPRP departments in conjunction with the Assoc. Vice President for Operations, including a rolling 5-year budget forecasting and commitment schedules. Including but not limited to 60+ departmental budgets, foundation accounts, and various other types of funds.
3. Manage various types of agreements (cooperative agreements, personal services agreements, memos of understanding, etc.) and solicit legal/administration advice when needed to ensure compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
4. Provide financial support, guidance, information, training, and technical assistance for OVPRP. Update and implement all necessary accounting practices as needed in compliance with University procedures.
5. Analyzing and reporting on financial performance using statistical techniques in various formats to ensure the quality and accuracy of the data and to be presented in a way to help executive leadership make organizational decisions.
6. Generate timely monthly, quarterly, yearly, and project-specific financial reports in compliance with University procedures.
7. Various other duties as assigned.
Required Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, or related field, AND:
Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree for a total of 96 months of related experience.
