You one who enjoys assisting in research and supporting various initiatives for the Trellis Research Team, Community Investment Division. You will assist in producing reports related to Trellis client needs, observe various quantitative and qualitative research, and support other researchers as members of project teams. You will gain exposure to qualitative research and skills through training and hands-on experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The position incumbent is expected to perform the following essential duties and responsibilities of the position with reasonable accommodation.


  • Contributes to small, informal research teams to carry out research objectives.

  • Aid in research projects, to include creation of literature reviews, conducting online research, and review of websites.

  • Provide administrative support to department team members.

  • Copy and edit reports, presentations, surveys and training materials.

  • Builds tables in MS Excel and performs data cleaning.

  • Supports development and maintenance of a newsletter listserv.

  • Supports the development of research briefs and various social media engagement.

  • Executes assigned tasks accurately.

  • Reflects on data and provides observations or insights pertinent to the research questions.

  • Possess an understanding of statistical analysis concepts and the ability to analyze datasets.

Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Assists with special projects as assigned.

  • Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Required:

  • Communication and writing skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of issues related to college student success and financial challenges.

  • Good time management.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Knowledge of higher education public policy.

Qualifications:

Education

Required:

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major work in public policy or social sciences (e.g., public administration, government, economics, sociology, or psychology).

Preferred:

  • Graduate training or current enrollment in a relevant masters or PhD program.

Experience

Required

  • Three to six months experience working with student success research or research in another social science or policy area.

Physical and Mental Demands:


  • Occasionally must move about when working inside the office.

  • Repetitive motion. Regularly operates a computer, phone, and general office equipment.

  • Regularly required to handle, feel, grasp objects and reach across a work area.

  • Regularly communicates with other employees and on the phone, virtually, or in person with clients. Regularly converses with internal and external contacts.

  • Visual acuity. Regularly must have close visual acuity to view and enter information into computer and software systems, analyze data, develop presentations and reports, and other materials.

  • Mental focus. Requires worker to maintain focus and exchange detailed and accurate information through oral and written communication.

Work Environment:

  • Work may be conducted remotely or in an office with a small cubicle environment.

  • Office work environment is climate controlled with no substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
