A Day in the Life

As the Santa Rosa Campus Sr. Facilities Supervisor, you will oversee the site facilities operations of four buildings totaling ~337,000 sq ft and a staff of 3 Facilities and 4 Equipment Mechanics / Technicians. Medtronic in Santa Rosa is comprised of Research & Development and Manufacturing of medical devices and components for Medtronic's Structural Heart and Aortic integrated operating unit which offers minimally-invasive approaches to restore proper structure and function of the heart and the aorta. We focus on the transcatheter replacement or repair of the four heart valves-aortic, pulmonic, mitral, tricuspid-and the placement of stent grafts to treat aneurysms and dissections of the body's largest artery, the aorta.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.


  • Manage the design, planning, construction and maintenance of equipment, machinery, buildings, and other facilities.
  • Plan, budget, and schedule facility modifications, including estimates on equipment, labor, materials and other related costs.
  • Design and develop organizational policies relevant to the facilities department.
  • Oversee the coordination of building space allocation and layout, communication services and facilities expansion.
  • May have responsibility for establishing, overseeing and adhering to environmental health and safety standards.
  • Select, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in Facilities Maintenance / Supervision, or an advanced degree with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in Facilities Maintenance / Supervision.

Nice to Have


  • Degree in Engineering or Technical Sciences.
  • 3+ years' experience in Facilities Maintenance.
  • Extensive knowledge of HVAC Systems, Chillers and Boilers.
  • Basics of Electrical Power, Voltage, Current, Charge and Resistance.
  • EPA Regulation 608 certification.
  • Comprehensive experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • PMP Certification is a plus.
  • Experience with manufacturing machinery and minimizing downtime.
  • Experience making budgetary recommendations on capital expenditures and direct / indirect labor.
  • Participation in performing annual performance reviews, pay adjustments and Individual Development Plans (IDPs) for all direct report employees.
  • Deliver performance coaching and discipline to direct reports.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • The incumbent should have excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to interact with all levels of employees.
  • The incumbent should be technically competent and able to provide clear direction to mechanics and technicians.
  • Experience applying best practices and historical data in Preventative Maintenance, while initiating Predictive Maintenance as needed.
