E&I Technician

Austin Industrial, Inc. - We are currently seeking an experienced E&I TECHNICIAN to be based in PORT WENTWORTH, GEORGIA. As an E&I technician, you will be required to conduct general maintenance inspections, perform routine electrical maintenance, respond to faults and wiring issues, and install major electrical equipment. To ensure success as an E&I technician, you should have high-level problem-solving skills, extensive experience working with industrial electrical systems, and good communication skills. This role is responsible for the maintenance of Instrumentation and Electrical Equipment throughout the facility.

Duties for IEs include, but are not restricted to, electrical circuit troubleshooting & repair, conduit & wire installation, lighting repair, PLC troubleshooting & repair, drive troubleshooting & repair, Instrumentation & control valve calibration, troubleshooting & repair, and HVAC work.

This is a full time maintenance opportunity.  No per diem and no relocation funding.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Performs all functions of the job in a safe manner and promptly reports any unsafe behaviors to the shift supervisor.

  • Complies with all company and customer safety policies and procedures.

  • Make decisions based on technical documents.

  • Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.

  • Completes electrical tasks properly and in a timely manner for all types/sizes of electrical & conduit installations/terminations.

  • Organizes materials and tools to maintain clean and neat work areas.

  • Mentors and provides Helpers/Mechanics with training.

  • Installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting PLC's, process controls, electrical, instrument, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.

  • Replacing and repairing parts, rewire install related instrument/electrical items including conduit and/or wiring.

  • Inspect and test equipment to identify malfunctions or defects.

  • Troubleshoot, repair and/or replace Motor Starter Buckets, Motor Control Centers; all types of lighting; transformers, relays, and contractors; (AC/DC) motors; Electrical outlet ground faults; Circuit breakers and power panels; line and control fuses; and electrical outlets.

  • Troubleshoot, calibrate, repair and or replace flow, level, temperature, pressure control valves, pressure transmitters and pressure switches utilizing test equipment, field calibrators, shop equipment, handheld communicators, and hand tools.

  • Prepare and maintain records detailing test, repairs, and maintenance.

  • Detect and report faulty operation, defective material and equipment.

  • Measures, cuts, bends, threads , assembles and installs electrical conduit using such tools as a hacksaw, pipe threader, rules and conduit benders, pulls wiring through conduit, assisted by helper.

  • Install control and distribution systems and equipment, such as switches, relays and circuit- breaker panels, and fastens in place with screws or bolts using hand or power tools. Connects wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment using hand tools.

  • Test continuity of circuit to insure electrical compatibility and safety of components using testing instruments such as ohmmeter, battery and buzzer and oscilloscope.

  • Able to work across a range of voltages, Low Voltage, Medium Voltage and High Voltage

  • Observes functioning of installed equipment or system to determine hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.

  • Disassembles and repairs defective electrical equipment or systems.

  • Install and maintain the wiring and control equipment.

  • Install and maintain electrical equipment and machines.

  • Install and maintain wiring systems.

  • Install and connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, outlets and/or other components and systems.

  • Self-motivated, with the capability to deliver finished work products.

  • Team oriented with the ability to follow project schedules.

E&I Technician Requirements:


  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Three or more years of E&I Maintenance experience as a Journeyman Electrician

  • Technical degree or certifications in electrical work is preferred

  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills

  • Knowledge of electrical systems, hand tools, and industrial equipment.

  • Experience with relays, switches, motors, timers, electric devices, circuit boards, and PLC troubleshooting

  • Awareness of national, state, and local electrical codes and regulations.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Motivated self-starter who can manage projects and make decisions.

  • Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and other technical documents.

  • Willing to perform physically demanding tasks, such as lift heavy objects, climbing ladders, crawling, etc.

  • Operate or work in industrial conditions (i.e. warm/hot, dusty/dirty, around hazardous chemicals, noise, heavy machinery or elevated working surfaces with proper safety training and safety protection.

  • Must pass drug screen and background check.

  • No Per Diem and no relocation funding.

Schedule:


  • 10 hour shift

  • Monday-Thursday

  • Occasional Overtime
