AVP - Financial Lines Underwriting Center Unit Lead –Cyber

The Financial Lines UW Center Unit Lead is responsible for building and maintaining a high-performance culture dedicated toward achieving established goals related to profitable growth, new business generation, customer service, and maintaining producer relationships of the Financial Lines UW Center for Professional Liability products. This position will primarily be responsible for managing Cyber Liability & Technology Errors and Omissions Liability new business production and a renewal portfolio of coverage with a staff of 6-8 Underwriters located in across multiple locations including Philadelphia, PA and Simsbury, CT. 

This position will be report to Cyber/Professional Liability Management in Simsbury, CT. 

Key responsibilities and competencies:


  • Experienced Cyber Liability underwriter with advanced level of authority.

  • Proven team leadership and people management skills including the ability to motivate staff and inspire a sense of urgency about achieving organizational objectives.

  • Responsible for financial results including new business production, renewal retention, rate initiatives and service metrics 

  • Responsible for staff recruiting and selection

  • Visible and credible business partner across the organization.  Key relationships with home office and branch colleagues in place.

  • Developing or demonstrated proficiency in performance management skills.  Includes communicating clear objectives and holding individuals and team accountable for achieving results along with coaching and supporting development opportunities to enhance staff effectiveness.

  • Proven new business track record and proven ability to develop and grow producer relationships.  Able to anticipate and adjust to multiple demands and shifting priorities.

  • Anticipates staffing needs; develops creative solutions for adequate backup during absences and peak production times

  • Demonstrated financial and analytical skills with the proven ability to make expedient and sound decisions.

  • Strong track record in delivering timely quality service to internal and external customers.

  • Demonstrated success in negotiation and building collaborative relationships.

  • Strong critical thinking skills and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to sell and negotiate to achieve bottom line profitability.

  • Proficiency in Financial Lines products, technology, online platform and automated processes.

  • Conducts underwriting audits and provides guidance on exception underwriting as appropriate. 

Experience:


  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or business is preferred

  • 5+ years of Cyber Liability underwriting experience

  • Professional designations not a requirement but preferred.
