As a Senior Wireless Network Architect/Engineer you will:
• Provide technical leadership for successful end to end Wireless Network support, implementation and design needs for the organization.
• Perform/facilitate wireless network design and modeling with Ekahau Pro.
• Perform/facilitate wireless site surveys to troubleshoot wireless performance issues with Ekahau Pro.
• Document the WLAN's architecture, design, and layout, including protocols and standards used, as well as configuration.
• Provide LAN and WLAN engineering, design, and implementation to optimize both performance and cost management.
• Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for WLAN administration, usage, and disaster recovery.
• Collaborate with executive management and business unit leaders to assess near- and long-term WLAN capacity needs. Interface with the business to evaluate ongoing network service needs, document requirements and facilitate network implementation projects.
• Develop/Oversee/Manage ongoing lifecycle management for Hardware/Software (including vulnerability management).
• Design and deploy enterprise-class wireless networks, including access points, routers, switches, and other hardware.
• Conduct research on wireless products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the industry.
• Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to acquire products and services.
• Collaborate closely with peer IT organizations helping to influence, guide, and direct technical outcomes, ensuring mutual operational alignment.
• Be the highest escalation points for critical and/or chronic incidents, provide subject matter
• Catalyst in the definition and creation of new support, driving capabilities that improve outcomes, minimize risk, and promote agility.
• Creation and maintenance of diagrams and documentation describing various aspects of the network services environments.
• Research and test solutions to assist in developing an infrastructure services roadmap. • Provide Fourth Level Network Services Incident Management for incident tickets with a primary focus on service restoration.
• Collaborate with 3rd party vendors for identified root causes for chronic incidents such as hardware, software, firmware bugs, or misconfigurations.
• Fulfill Network Services Service Request tickets for adds, moves, changes. • Participate in team on-call rotation responsibilities and ensure the team has appropriate Wireless Support knowledge.
• Some travel as needed to assess site locations against networking requirements. (troubleshooting, assessment of changes needed, new network design needs, go-live support for critical business needs)
What you'll need to be successful:
Required:
• Technical hands-on expertise with Cisco Wireless, Cisco Controllers, Cisco DNAC, Ekahau • Proven experience and success with enterprise-level LAN and WLAN engineering, design, and implementation.
• Proven experience with site surveys and site design for the purpose of creating efficient and effective WLAN signal overlap.
• Demonstrated understanding of radio frequencies, TCP/IP, IEEE 802.11 protocols, and electromagnetic interference.
• Working knowledge of network features and protocols such as spanning tree, TCP/IP V4, ARP, CDP, VTP, Etherchannel, 802.1Q trunking, HSRP, 802.11x, IPsec, SNMP, NTP. Working knowledge of SIP, OSPF, BGP, QoS preferred, but not required.
• General knowledge of networking infrastructure suppliers and service offerings including Cisco Firewalls (FMC/FTD), Viptela, Meraki, CradlePoint, Zscaler.
• General knowledge of Carrier Services - WAN Circuits, MPLS, VPN, VRFs, Point to Point, SIP Trunking.
• Exposure/Experience with applications and services such as Cisco ISE TACAS, Cisco Prime/DNAC, Infoblox, Sumo Logics, ThousandEyes, ServiceNow, NetBeez, Wireshark, Splunk, SolarWinds (or other Network Management Systems).
Preferred (not required):
• Certifications Preferred: CCNA/CCNP Wireless, CWNA
• University degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Information Systems
