Job Description

Performs after training and probationary period:


  • A variety of basic operational and maintenance tasks relevant to maintaining safe and reliable operations of water treatment and distribution facilities and systems ensuring operational compliance with state and federal regulations.

  • Routine cleaning and general housekeeping duties in work and plant areas as assigned, including but not limited to sweeping, dusting, mopping, painting, etc..

  • Work outdoors performing water distribution system maintenance functions including the operation and testing of valves, hydrants, meters, etc..

  • Ability to understand and carry out written and/or verbal work orders and assignments

  • Ability to perform simple math calculations with the use of a calculator

  • Basic knowledge of fundamentals of chemistry, math principles and hydraulics required.

  • Ability to utilize CMMS system to schedule and complete work orders.

  • Ability to properly collect water quality samples, test and maintain collection records

  • Actions are controlled by standard work procedures and under direct supervision of others

  • Required to work a pre-determined weekend shift and be available for emergency call-out in rotation with other employees.

The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to distinguish color, close vision and distance vision.

Qualifications


  • Less than 2 years' experience in Water treatment industry

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Valid Driver's License

  • Must learn and comply with all safety procedures

  • Works a scheduled shift

  • Must obtain MASS DEP certifications in water treatment (T-1) and water distribution (D-1) within 24 months of hire; certification required to progress
