Job Description


  1. Coordinate with engineers, customers and contractors to identify and develop cost effective energy efficiency projects that meet the customer's financial and operational requirements.


  2. Assist engineers in the initial identification of measures and project approach, and develop the projects for successful implementation; includes reviewing and ensuring energy efficiency measures maximize energy savings potential, can be successfully implemented and are properly developed and analyzed.


  3. Ensure a clear and well-defined project description, concept design, performance requirements/specifications and implementation scope of work (SOW) are developed.


  4. Responsible for seeing that there is alignment between the measure/project concept design, performance requirements and SOW with the calculated energy savings.


  5. Coordinate engineers, customers and contractors to obtain implementation (design and construction) proposals and review the project SOW and technical proposal documents to make sure the project can be successfully installed, the energy savings will be achieved upon implementation and customer operations are not negatively impacted.


  6. Review designs and submittals by sub-consultants and contractors to ensure proper, complete system design and all of the energy efficiency and operational requirements from the original project/measure development have been included. Ensure sufficient design for successful implementation.


  7. Oversee and conduct any in-house project design work and produce drawings and specifications as needed.


  8. Work with project managers and engineers to verify that efficiency projects are installed properly; resolve issues with contractors as needed to ensure best results and customer satisfaction.


  9. Peer review of design and construction documents.


  10. Collaborate and develop company standards and templates for energy efficiency measure descriptions, preliminary and detailed implementation scope of work, optimized control sequences, design and submittal review checklists, etc.


  11. Review and comment on technical deliverables including site scoping audit reports, preliminary and detailed investigation/audit reports and M&V reports.


  12. Review and comment on analysis by our engineers to calculate the energy savings associated with recommended projects.


  13. Determine implementation costs for energy efficiency projects or QC the cost analysis of engineers or contractors.


  14. Write clear and concise reports, and QC the technical quality of the deliverables produced by engineers related to design and implementation.


  15. Write technical papers and present at conferences.


  16. Assist in the marketing and business development of the company's products and services


Qualifications


  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering.


  • Minimum of 10 years' direct experience in the design and evaluation of large mechanical systems and controls.


  • Experience with a design-build contractor is preferred.


  • Minimum 5 years' experience in energy efficiency evaluations of industrial and/or commercial systems.


  • Field assessments and testing/commissioning of mechanical systems for medium/large industrial and commercial facilities.


  • Management and development of medium to large scale energy efficiency projects including project cost estimating.


  • Background in energy analysis and modeling.


  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and problem solving skills.


  • Develop and train engineers, including teaching internal classes and developing training materials


  • Ability to delegate sub tasks to support engineers and review their work


  • California-Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) required
