Our Design Directors sit at the intersection of multiple workstreams to achieve product desirability, technical feasibility, and financial viability. They bring design thinking to corners of our business that don’t traditionally have exposure to a designer’s mindset (e.g., acquiring an understanding of our product’s revenue & user value drivers to unlock harmony between both business goals and user needs).

To achieve this, we’re looking for a Director who can bring a “start-up” mindset that enables us to achieve quality outputs while remaining efficient, someone who will always lead with innovation, bravery, acumen, poise, and compassion, who will evangelize the value of the team’s work.

Your responsibilities:


  • Lead concept sessions that balance the future state vision against MVP needs and goals

  • Collaborate effectively with and strategically guide multi-disciplinary teams including management consultants, product managers, engineers, marketers, and corporate executives

  • Understand and leverage all forms of qualitative and quantitative research, and apply it to design decision making; report out on success metrics of shipped work

  • Imbue all facets of the work with a healthy appreciation and respect for technology while simultaneously pushing the envelope of the possible

  • Be an evangelist for the Design System and inclusive design principles at all times

  • Fearlessly articulate both risk and solution design: you are the voice of user experience

  • Apply industry trends and exemplars with skill and relevancy to Prudential products & services

  • Balance and solve customer frictions and needs with our client’s business goals, market viability, and technical feasibility

  • Deliver concepts, personas, user journeys, storyboards, system maps, user flows, wireframes, visual design comps, and prototypes with XD, Adobe CS, InVision, and other tools

  • Oversee and mentor Associate & Senior Designers; promote their accomplishments via internal events / forums

  • Communicate the product’s vision and articulate design decisions and trade-offs to partners and clients, both verbally and visually

  • Partner with engineering to ensure designs are properly implemented; where required, work with product teams to redact work if required while maintaining customer goal satisfaction

Your experience:


  • 8+ years of professional experience as an Experience Designer building, prototyping, and continually evolving digital products from ideation to implementation

  • 4+ years of people management experience, and at least 2 years of interaction experience with executive teams

  • Strong ability to convey concepts through storyboards, user flows, user journeys, wireframes, prototypes, etc.

  • Combination of agency and corporate environment experience and or FinTech experience

  • Expertise in visual design, brand management, and prototyping tools such as XD, Figma, Adobe CS, and Zeplin

  • Mature experience sketching, mapping, documenting, prototyping strategic customer experience approaches and processes

  • Solid understanding of Information Architecture, taxonomy, language and content matrixes

  • Demonstrable experience of explaining design ideas and concepts in a way that people of different backgrounds can understand

  • Strong understanding of mobile and web technologies and industries

  • Ability to communicate the process, approach, and impact of your design in verbal and visual presentation

  • Excellent people management skills to proactively collaborate with colleagues and cross-functional teams in a lean, agile environment
