Job Description:

General Job Objective:

An Assembler II will lay out and assemble sub-assemblies and final assemblies of all crane parts meeting company standards for quality, quantity and safety. 

Essential Job Functions:


  • Work individually or in small team to assemble all sub-assemblies for crane parts and products, and assist in final assemblies.

  • Ensure bearings, seals and hydraulics fit and operate according to specifications.

  • Read and work from blueprints, schematics, hydraulic and electrical prints.  Obtain blueprint and hydraulic print reading certificates.

  • Troubleshoot, locate and identify all basic crane functions.

  • Operate and check sub-assemblies.

  • Locate parts needed for the assembly process.

  • Grease and lubricate parts.

  • Inspect parts for adherence to specifications; grind parts as needed.

  • Assist in planning and maintaining the flow of work through department. 

  • Instruct and check the work of lower rated Assemblers. 

  • Complete and maintain all required paperwork and records, ensuring paperwork follows product.

  • Operate small hand and power tools such as hammer, wrench (open and closed), pipe wrench, punch, screwdriver, torque wrench, file, metric and SAE, magnetic drill, hydraulic torque wrench, drill, grinder, and other hand and power tools.

  • Ensure production specifications and quality standards are met.

  • Identify and resolve assembly problems with engineering.

  • Operate powered hand truck, single leg gantry crane, and jib hoist.

  • Receive Company certification to operate overhead cranes, jib hoists, overhead bridge cranes and powered industrial forklift. 

  • Perform daily inspections and operate, perform basic rigging, use of chains and slings for a jib hoist and use a battery magnet.

    This position will work both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions, depending upon the task assigned.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use tools or controls.  The employee is frequently required to stand, reach, climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  Incumbent will work in a typical manufacturing environment including the use of solvents, adhesives, hydraulic oil, petroleum products, etc.  There is frequent lifting and/or moving of up to 50 pounds.  Incumbent may be required to climb ladders.

    Education & Experience Requirements:



  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.

  • A minimum of 2 years of crane/heavy equipment assembly/mechanic experience. 

  • Lift and carry 50 lbs. up to 100 feet.

  • Work from elevated heights.

  • Normal shop working environment.

  • Must be able and willing to work any shift and overtime (weekday and weekend).
